THE Sun’s Tractor Boys ploughed through Brussels yesterday to ram home the message: “Hands Off Our Rebate.”

Our sparkling blue tractor was adorned with Sun logos to draw attention to the massive EU spending on farm subsidies. And we made sure it rumbled past the building where grasping EU leaders will be trying to reap the benefits of axing the £3billion UK rebate.

Diplomats, locals and tourists were initially shocked when our seven-tonne vehicle appeared.

But one grinning couple APPLAUDED as we trundled past, and holidaymaker Jan Williamson, 45, said: “Good on you for standing up to the EU.”

Driver Kurt Van Cutsem said: “You are definitely making your point. Everyone stops to look.”

As we rolled through the area full of EU buildings we disturbed Eurocrats sipping their lunchtime coffees. But even they admired the way we delivered our message. One said: “What a brilliant idea — trust The Sun to make an impact.”
