Peace: thanks for that. This is what should be shown on the media. .......so that the population can get a taste of what it has done to a nation, a people .

How sad to see that all "we" hear about is the military might of the US......( basking in their testosterone laden offensive system) and yet , very little is said or shown about the results of this "military might".

As long as the media is so "selective" in what it shows, the "war" is quite sterile.....and being in a far off nation, an idle topic to debate military strategies.......as opposed to humanitarian disaster.

War is insanity. Anyone that STARTS one is insane. Anyone that starts one based on Lies......is psychopathically insane. Greed and the lust for power can make people crazy. But power is such a heady experience.....it is addictive. The more one has, the more one wants.

We are living in tragic times.....when all it takes is a few lies....to start to kill.

I suppose it does not matter that most every Iraqi casualty is because of insurgents setting off car bombs at every street corner and market place. Have some integrity and give credit where it is due. The insurgents have been slaughtering the Iraqi Police, soldiers, and civillians and have not tried to hide it.

I suppose it is more fun to blame the US though.

Gimme an I!

I!
Gimme an S!

S!
Gimme an H!

H!
What's that spell ?

FISH!
What's that spell ?

FISH!
What's that spell ?

FISH!
Yeah, come on all of you, big strong men,
Uncle Sam needs your help again.
He's got himself in a terrible jam
Way down yonder in Vietnam
So put down your books and pick up a gun,
We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Well, come on generals, let's move fast;
Your big chance has come at last.
Gotta go out and get those reds —
The only good commie is the one who's dead
And you know that peace can only be won
When we've blown 'em all to kingdom come.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Huh!

Well, come on Wall Street, don't move slow,
Why man, this is war au-go-go.
There's plenty good money to be made
By supplying the Army with the tools of the trade,
Just hope and pray that if they drop the bomb,
They drop it on the Viet Cong.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Well, come on mothers throughout the land,
Pack your boys off to Vietnam.
Come on fathers, don't hesitate,
Send 'em off before it's too late.
Be the first one on your block
To have your boy come home in a box.

And it's one, two, three
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Whoa Peapod!

You had to go way back into the archives to get that one. The singers name was "something" Joe.

You still see those forgotten hippies trying to get the young students going from time to time.

Is there a count for the collateral damage by the US to compare to that of the insurgents?

I would bet that that stat would be tough to get. I am sure that anti-US folks will say "Americans have killed 5 Million innocent Iraqi children, women, and old people". And if the opposition posts their own stats they will be greeted with scorn and ridicule.

People will believe what they want. The US is losing, the US is winning... They love us, They hate us....

It is all out there...

Now I want everybody here who feels the spirit of the song
And that means all you people out there in record land

Country Joe... that is his name. I do not think COuntry Joe stopped the Vietnam War. It was a catchy song though for the hippies though.

I actually did see one documentary on Country Joe. It was more of his own making though which showed his shows at anti-Vietnam rallies and then preforming at the Vietnam Vets Parade, concert during the 80's.

But musicians didn't END the Vietnam War. That is a stretch.
