I've often wondered the effect statistics have on peoples perceptions. When one looks at statistics, do they get an accurate pciture? Should they not make an effort to obatin information on the methodology used. And why don't some countries even bother with in depth statistics? In countries that do offer more information whether it be a national stat or international, they get scrutinized or even hailed more (depending on the stat results) than others. What's your take on statistics, do they serve a purpose?
