Santa Claus Has Been Banned From The U.S.

Santa Claus may not enter the USA this year. The Dept. of Homeland
Security along with president Bush decided that Santa can not enter
the USA this year because of terrorism cautions, and banned his entry
into the USA. The president is sorry that the children will not get
any toys, but our defense is more important, said Bush. When
interviewed, Santa said he would continue delivering toys to all other
parts of the world, and was very sorrowful for the US children. He
plans to give all the excess toys to children in other parts of the
world. The US FBI, under the order if president Bush, cautioned Mr.
Claus that if he tried to sneak into the US, he would be shot down,
and all of his reindeer would be turned into venison. They also
attached a secret satellite radio transmitter and webcam to Santa's
sleigh which will observe every move he makes, to insure that he is
not a terrorist in disguise. Additionally the FBI will inspect Santa,
his sleigh, and reindeers to insure that none of them are carrying a
bomb. Rudolph the red nosed reindeer will require a special xray test
to insure that his nose is not being powered by dangerous radioactive
substances which could be used to make bombs, if gotten into the wrong
hands.

Actually Santa Claus was believed to be Canadian, because of the Red Suit the jolly old elf wears! Here are some things to ponder about Santa Claus who is also know as St. Nickolas.

He was a bishop living in fourth century Armenia which extended at that time all the way to the coastal City of Myra in Asia Minor who was extremelty wealthy, having been born to into a wealthy trading family. He gave away his fortune and recieved the reputation of being very generous. His main claim to fame involves why we hang stockings by the fireplace! It seems a widower had four beautiful daughters but he was poor and could not offer any suitors a dowry which was the custom of the time. Since the Daughters did not have a dowry, their marriage prospects might look pretty dim. The only other option left was to sell one or two daughters into slavery which usually meant forced prostitution of the worst sort to provide a dowry for the other sisters. Nicholas went into action and snuck into the house and filled the socks hanging by the fireplace with Gold and Silver coins which provided a very handsome dowry for each young lady!

Let us remember that Saint Nickolas lives on as saint and therefore Santa Claus is how we must be this Christmas season, giving without the hope of being repaid in this world. Do a kindness, pass it on without looking for any reward.

Martin Le Acadien actually Santa Claus is not the same as Saint Nickolas. How do I know? Every December 6th we Dutchmen, along with the Flemish and some Germans, celebrate "Sinterklaas" - Saint Nickolas. What you call Santa Claus is called here "Kerstman", Christmasman. Somewhere some centuries ago the Americans started to use the name Saint Nickolas for this "Christmasman", and called him Santa Claus, but they are not the same. I'll post a pic of the real "Santa Claus", "Sinterklaas".

It would seem that the underlying Spirit is the same. The interesting question is whether the Spirit is real and influential in human affairs or just a pleasant way of talking about strictly human behavior.

Your right Rick, this figure has taken on a new life as Santa Claus. Your picture shows a bishop in his miter which is how some early pictographs from the 18th and 19th century showed him but due to the anti-catholcism which was prevalent in early american history (before 1776) the bishop idea wasn't popular and Christmas was not celebrated in some of the Colonies!

Sinterklaas morphed into Santa Claus, actually the Christmas tradions came to North America by way of the Dutch at
New Amsterdam (New York City) and morphed in the figure of Santa Claus.

Dec 6 is still the feast day of St. Nicolas in the Catholic Church in some countries.

Oh I didn't know that about the banning of Saint Nickolas. What's actually kinda funny is the fact that although Saint Nickolas is a Catholic bishop, both Catholic as well as Protestant Dutch celebrate his birthday by giving presents to children.

That's why certain German and Austrian places had banned the Santa Claus during Christmas.
