REMOANERS like Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband, who encourage calls for Britain to be kept in the European Union, should be tried for treason, a petition has urged.

Christian Holliday, a Conservative councillor from Surrey, hopes to amend the Victorian-era legislation to reclassify support for the EU as treason.

Intended to come into force on the day of Britain’s official exit from the EU, the legislation would also prevent Remain supporters for campaigning for a return to the bloc.

The Tory petition calls for Remoaners to be charged with treason

Christian Holliday, a Conservative councillor from Surrey, hopes to amend the Victorian-era legislation to reclassify support for the EU as treason.

Intended to come into force on the day of Britain’s official exit from the EU, the legislation would also prevent Remain supporters for campaigning for a return to the bloc.

The petition, which has been added to the UK Government and Parliament website, calls for the Treason Felony Act to be amended to include the following offences:

⁃ To imagine, devise, promote, work, or encourage others, to support UK becoming a member of the European Union.

⁃ To conspire with foreign powers to make the UK, or part of the UK, become a member of the EU.

Pro-EU supporters have been slammed for trying to delay Brexit

The antiquated act dates from 1848 during the reign of Queen Victoria, who made it an offence to even “imagine” deposing the monarchy.

But the law has not been used as a charge in any case since 1879, making prosecution unlikely.

Although appearing to be designed more to get a reaction from pro-EU supporters, the petition has already attracted support from over two hundred people.

The petition reads: “It is becoming clear that many politicians and others are unwilling to accept the democratic decision of the British people to leave the EU.

“Brexit must not be put at risk in the years and decades ahead.

“For this reason we the undersigned request that the Treason Felony Act be amended as set out in this petition.”

The petition is among several on the site from Leave campaigners, with one that received more than 2,000 signatures calling for EU flags to be removed from public buildings.

The petition says Remain voters need to get over the referendum result

An appeal “not to allow freedom of movement as part of any deal with the EU after Brexit” also received a raft of support after being posted on the government site.

However the most signed petition about the EU called for “HM government to implement a rule that if the remain or leave vote is less than 60 per cent based on a turnout of less than 75 per cent there should be another referendum”.

Brits are retarded.

The Act in question has nothing to do with Brexit or Bremain. It's like prosecuting somebody for shoplifting under the article on assault.

Yes, neither of which involves overthrowing the monarchy, which is what the Act forbids.

You're dumber'n the average Brit. Who is retarded.

They're calling for the Act to be amended to include those two offences. It's not rocket science.

We wouldn't want Britain to respect freedom of belief and expression too much now would we. Let's just try anyone who disagrees with us with treason.

Freedom of expression?

More like planning and plotting to overthrow the democratic will of the people.

Let's be accurate here.

Pesky RT plays the flip side of western media massaged news and it appears this has proved too challenging a burden for brits, free speech complicates political bs.

Maria Zakharova, a Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman, wrote on Facebook: “It looks like, as it leaves the EU, London has decided to leave behind all its obligations towards freedom of speech. As they say, best to start a new life without bad habits.”

They should be more worried about their poor who probably fall in the same demographics we are seeing in the US, you know the 'deplorable's', who vote based on what they told to vote for, usually fear seem to always work well, but never on well documented cause and effect. These poor British are getting poorer everyday; energy, food etc, is picking up sharply, while the pound is getting weaker. Prices are falling and borrowing is rising. It will take time for the water to settle. I'm sure the people instrumental in the push to exit are not suffering, they are travelling to the US to stand side-by-side with Trump, being dined and drinking Speyside Whisky. I'm pretty sure exports will suffer as well, buyers might be more scarce.

These poor British are getting poorer everyday;

Can you provide us with the relevant statistics on that?

energy, food etc, is picking up sharply,

Bollocks.

There are arguments being muted that claim when Britain comes out of the single market, prices could in fact go DOWN.

Food prices may well rise if the supermarkets continue to source items from the EU with its protectionist customs union. However, leaving the EU will allow food to be sourced from other places without tariffs such as New Zealand for lamb and Africa for beef and vegetables.

This nonsense talk of price rises is just Project Fear II from Remainers who are in denial about the referendum result!

while the pound is getting weaker.

Good.

I'm pretty sure exports will suffer as well, buyers might be more scarce.

Brexit trade to ROCKET as businesses given export tax break to STEAL foreign markets

TAX breaks will be offered as an incentive to British businesses to boost exports, under a Government plan to make the UK the global leader in free trade.

Firms which boost the country’s overseas trade would be given an export tax credit. Rebates could be given against corporation tax bills to reduce the costs of seeking new business abroad, according to Whitehall insiders.

“One of the ideas being considered is the introduction of an export tax credit to cover the cost of translation or advice or anything that adds to the cost of exporting,” the source said.

“That could then be offset against corporation tax.

“We have got the next two-and-a-half-years to get our market share up before leaving the European Union. We can be exporting everywhere.

“The pound dropping actually gives us a competitive advantage.

“Some of our European trading partners – the clever ones – can see that. One even said that Brexit would damage their economy because we will go in and steal their markets."

Last week Brexit Secretary David Davis said that he could see advantages to the British pound falling to a three-decade low, arguing the decline would help exporters.

“The simple truth is that those talking about the competitiveness of their own industries are not paying attention to the level of the pound,” he said.

“While it has some downsides, it certainly has a very large number of upsides, too.”

That's hilarious. No concern abut the leftards trying to hijack real democracy though. I guess the commie wannabe in the Russian foreign ministry doesn't understand that freedom of speech doesn't mean you have the right to overturn a democratic outcome.

I always kind of thought Britain is a democracy.

And that's why those Remoaners who try to overturn the democratic will of the British people by trying to keep us in the EU should be tried for treason and hanged.
