Russia called an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council following the airstrikes, which threatens last week’s fragile ceasefire agreement that would have led to cooperation between the US-led coalition and Russian defense officials to target the Islamic State.

During the meeting, Russia blasted the US and accused them of aiding ISIS.
“If previously we had suspicions that Al-Nusra Front is protected this way, now, after today’s airstrikes on the Syrian army we come to a really terrifying conclusion for the entire world: The White House is defending IS [Islamic State, formerly ISIS/ISIL],” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Rossiya 24.

Russia is mad because they are BFF with Assad, who of course expects them to protect his interest. He must be ferocious now !!! Anybody linked so tight to Assad as Russia have put their eggs in the wrong basket, and I'm sure they know it, but what do they do now, look for another ally in the area? I'm pretty sure Maria's childish accusation has not caused US generals much anxiety, it simply made her look like a marionette.

Not surprising at all. After all, that's what the US is doing. It may not be what they intended to do, but still.

I don't understand why the US doesn't wake up, and stop interfering in other countries. It just turns into a horrible mess, every single time.

Is it Maria making the accusation or is she just being the spokesman?

As for Russia backing Syria, Russia has had close ties with that country since the 1960s, when Bashar's father Hafez was in power. A newly independent Syria aligned itself with the Eastern Bloc and Hafez trained to fly fighter jets in the USSR.

But Russia's hardly unusual in having close links with what people call a questionable regime. Look at America's close links with Saudi Arabia.

I was on the way out the door when I posted and didn't really get to fact check,
I'm almost wishing it isn't or wasn't true.
However it certainly follows the trend some of us have been trying to shine some light on

Quote me when he professed Islam.

He was born a Muslim, like most of them are.

He even once referred to "my Muslim faith" on a chat show.

Barack Hussein is a Muslim. Deal with it.

If it wasn't for the Brits, the whole middle east thing would be different. I blame Lawrence.

Good point. It'd probably be far worse.

Islam is a religion, not a race. A person can convert in and out of it, believe it or not.

Sure some 'Muslim' states make conversion from Islam a capital offence, but that is not what the Koran teaches.

And even then, US law does not make conversion from Islam a capital offense.

ISIS was created during the Bush years. The US has been training, financing and supplying them since their inception. The president has nothing to do with it. The Pentagon and the CIA (the military/industrial complex's henchmen) are in charge. The president is nothing more than a scapegoat and puppet to make you think you have a choice. All you bozos who think voting Hillary or Trump will make a difference are delusional.

The US is sure out to cover their as*, so far it is Australia, Denmark and now the UK that were flying the planes. Total bullsh*t and even if other Nations were involved it is the US alone that calls the shots. They had the people under surveillance for 2 days before the attack so if they are that bad at determining who is who they should pack up and leave the are completely which is what will happen eventually. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Nice to see which members are giving the US a pass on this, it shows how uninformed some are and that the only lives they deem as important are members of their own (sick) country.

The British Defence Ministry confirmed on Monday that the UK participated in the US-led coalition's airstrike in Deir ez-Zor, Syria, when the country's army was bombed.

London said it "would not intentionally target Syrian military units".

On Saturday, the US-led coalition targeted the Syrian Army battling Daesh in Deir-ez-Zor.

"Increased state support for terrorists hostile to Syria has recently presented itself in the form of naked American aggression against one of the Syrian army positions in Deir ez-Zor in favor of the interests of the [Daesh jihadist group]," Assad said, as quoted by the Syrian presidency’s Twitter account, hosting a senior Iranian diplomat. He added that "countries hostile to Syria increase their support for terrorism as Syria succeeds in liberating territories and signing ceasefire agreements."

The Russian General Staff said Monday that US-backed Syrian rebels have not separated from terrorists, but united with al-Nusra Front and are preparing for an offensive.
The only parties adhering to the truce are Moscow and the Syrian government forces, while the United States and opposition groups it controls have not fulfilled a single obligation according to the Russia-US agreement, the General Staff said.

"The United States and so-called moderate opposition groups under its control have not fulfilled a single commitment taken on under the Geneva agreements. Above all, the moderate opposition has not been separated from al-Nusra Front [also known as Jabhat Fatah al Sham]," Lt. Gen. Sergei Rudskoy said at a briefing. Syrian rebels have taken advantage of the ceasefire observed by the Syrian army and currently are preparing to advance in the Aleppo and Hama provinces, the Russian reconciliation center said. "In the provinces of Aleppo and Hama, opposition units used the ceasefire to regroup, get more ammunition and prepare for an offensive to capture more territories, while the Syrian troops have ceased combat operations," Lt. Gen. Vladimir Savchenko said. "The joint US-Russian statement on the cessation of hostilities in Syria reached on February 22, 2016 says that our states 'will also work together…to delineate the territory held by Daesh, al-Nusra Front and other terrorist organizations designated by the UN Security Council.' Unfortunately, our US colleagues still have not made any real steps in this direction," the Russian Defense Ministry said. Syrian opposition forces violated the truce more than 300 times since the ceasefire came into force, killing 153 Syrian personnel and 63 civilians, the Russian General Staff said.

Last but not least it seems that all the Rebels are acting as a single unit. They could not hold the territory the US gave them access to so now they are just bunching up and that is never good with bombers overhead. Perhaps the withdrawal of US Special Forces was not an event but a tactic to remove them from harms way due to the upcoming slaughter of the Rebels.

Shelling of residential areas and Syrian Army positions by militants is intensifying, spokesperson for the Russian Defense Ministry Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.
"We still don’t have contacts with representatives of the moderate opposition for the ceasefire. We have asked the United States to give us contacts of moderate opposition groups or pressure them, but there is still no result. Moreover, shelling of residential areas and positions of the Syrian Army by militants is intensifying," Konashenkov said.

According to him, the most complicated situation is now in Aleppo. "Militants are using the ceasefire and the fact that the army is not responding to shelling. In areas they control militants move personnel and equipment at daytime and nighttime," he added. Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the US failed to fulfill obligations of the deal.

"ISIS launched attacks on the Syrian army positions in Deir Ezzor only 7 minutes after the US-led coalition's airstrikes on Saturday, a military source said, adding that the air and ground assault were highly coordinated, According to FNA report." This seriously cuts against any US claims about this being an accident. additional information, in the below, also corroborates this.

What's big is not just the bombing action on the part of the US itself, but Russia's now public and irreversible statements, all to be understood in the context of recent events.

Israel bombed the SAA earlier in the week and as a response from the SAA, had several of their crafts shot down. Of course the Obama administration is going to be pressured by its 'only democratic ally in the region' to take direct action against the SAA, diplomacy be damned. So of course the US had to do something.

Samantha Power's statements at the UN were deplorable, a real 'low point' in the history of US diplomacy. Of course the US has long been an imperialist power, only before it was able to couch this as the fight against communism. But this total lack of refinement, tact, comportment, sophistication, composure, and basic diplomacy on the part of the US's Foreign Ministry and Press Secretary represents a new low in US history. Two Danish F-16 fighter jets took part in the coalition attack that reportedly killed scores of Syrian soldiers by mistake on Saturday.
The Danish Defence wouldn’t comment on the issue beyond stating that the event took place and that the Danes were co-operating fully in a coalition investigation of the attack.
“The international coalition against IS [Islamic State] completed a number of attacks on a presumed IS position in the area around Dayr Az Zawr in Syria on September 17,” the Danish Defence wrote.
“Two Danish F-16s took part along with the aircraft of other nations in these attacks. The attack was stopped immediately following Russian reports that a Syrian military position had been hit. Obviously, it is regrettable if the coalition has mistakenly hit anything other than IS forces.”

The British Ministry of Defence confirmed on Monday that its aircrafts participated in the aggression carried out by the US alliance on sites for the Syrian army in Deir Ezzor which took place on Saturday.
The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces had said in a statement on Saturday that US alliance aircrafts targeted a Syrian Arab Army position in al-Tharda Mountain in the surroundings of Deir Ezzor Airport, causing losses in lives and equipment and clearly pavomg the way for ISIS terrorists to attack the position and take control of it.

A long list of blunders by the U.S. administration is jeopardizing the fight against DAESH while alienating countries that are striving to end the five-year civil war in Syria. The latest blunder, the attack by U.S. jets that killed at least 90 regime soldiers, has put the ceasefire negotiated between Washington D.C. and Moscow in jeopardy.

This follows the Obama administration's confusing handi-off approach in the beginning of the civil war that allowed the violence to escalate, allowing the creation of DAESH, continuing with openly supporting the PKK terrorist group's Syrian affiliate People's Protection Units (YPG) to fight the extremist group.

The U.S. has succeeded in alienating the moderate Free Syrian Army (FSA), Russia and Turkey over the years in a perplexing strategy that has snowballed into the current lack of policy. While the Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) advances toward the strategic city of al-Bab as part of Operation Euphrates Shield, Ankara fears the U.S.'s recent feckless moves in Syria could hurt the fight against DAESH. On Saturday, at least 90 Syrian regime soldiers were killed in a U.S.-led coalition airstrike at an army position near Deir al-Zour airport while fighting DAESH. Russia called an emergency U.N. Security Council meeting late Saturday to demand an explanation from the U.S., accusing the U.S. of violating agreements that it would not target Syrian army positions.
U.S. Defense Department spokesman Peter Cook said the pilots believed they were striking DAESH targets. After the strike, Russia said that it could jeopardize the Russia and the U.S.- brokered cease-fire in Syria that took effect on Monday.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, three Syrian opposition groups announced that they are withdrawing from Operation Euphrates Shield as they refuse to work with American Special Operations Forces (SOF) due to their support for the People's Protection Units (YPG) terrorists, the armed wing of the PKK terrorist organization's Syrian offshoot the Democratic Union Party (PYD), as they aim to create a separatist area in the northern Syria.

Obama is a tool of the World Banksters rather than him making policy on his own. That is why he is always golfing.

It didn't take long for the response to take place.

Bombing of Syrian forces by a US-led coalition could be a "costly mistake" for Washington, an article in The American Conservative read.
The Pentagon said the airstrike was a result of an "intelligence failure." Assuming that, this airstrike is a "damaging and embarrassing error," the article read.

In addition, it proves how dangerous a bombing campaign could be amid a multilateral civil war, like now in Syria. The situation gets even more embarrassing because the airstrike was made against the Syrian Army which is fighting Daesh terrorists. In fact, Washington’s mistake benefited Daesh. Moreover, the timing of the incident could not have been even worse. It happened shortly after Washington and Moscow reached a ceasefire agreement on Syria, the article read. After the incident, some called on Washington to justify attacks against Syrian forces. "That is the deranged position some Syria hawks end up taking because of their obsession with starting a war with the Syrian government," according to the article.

The Syrian Army has declared end of ceasefire claiming that militants did not adhere to any provision of the truce.
Syrian militants have breached Moscow-Washington brokered truce more than 300 times, the Army said.

The Syrian army reaffirmed commitment to fight against terror after the end of truce. "The ceasefire regime should have been a real chance to stop bloodshed, but units of terrorists did not abhere to any of the points of the agreement. The number of ceasefire violations suprassed 300," SANA news agency quoted the Syrian Army General Command as saying. The statement also said that Syrian government forces have made every effort to comply with the ceasefire and "have shown the highest degree of restraint confronting violations by terrorist groups." On September 9, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry announced a new peace plan to address the conflict in Syria that called for a ceasefire and anti-terrorism cooperation among other clauses of the treaty. 673 ... 570

This seems to be the story of the week and with good cause.

(in part)
The United States air strikes against Syrian army positions in Deir Ezzor, and in support of ISIS, has finally revealed what many who follow the Syria conflict outside the echo chamber of western mainstream media already know.
The United States is fighting alongside ISIS. Their is no need to sugar coat this issue any longer. It is time to call it for what it is. Syria is America’s newest war, and its latest invasion.
ISIS is America’s proxy gone wild…and just because ISIS has gone a bit rogue, it does not mean that the US is still not supporting its proxy army.
The majority of boots on the ground in Syria are not American. They are however American trained and funded. They are called Al Nusra, Al Qaeda, and they are also called ISIL, or Daesh, or ISIS.

After Israel attacked the Assad regime’s military positions in response to projectiles fired from Syria that exploded inside Israel, Russia called on Israel to show restraint and has allegedly given Syria permission to shoot down Israeli planes that cross into its territory.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called on Israel to “show restraint” and to “avoid any provocations” in the Syrian Golan Heights.
“There is the need to show restraint and not to allow any provocations in the Golan Heights,” Lavrov said commenting on an airstrike carried out by the Israeli jets in Syria’s Golan Heights on Tuesday, according to the Russian TASS news agency.
Israel has carried out several airstrike against the Assad regime’s military positions in recent days in response to projectiles fired from Syria that exploded inside Israel. At least 11 projectiles have exploded in Israel in the past two weeks – spillover from the Syrian civil war being waged along Israel’s northern border.
Despite President Bashar al-Assad’s multiple crimes against his country committed over the course of five years of warfare, Russia has offered close support to his regime and has sent military forces to support his retreating army, even at the cost of Russian lives.

he ISIS launched attacks on the Syrian army positions in Deir Ezzor only 7 minutes after the US-led coalition’s airstrikes on Saturday, a military source said, adding that the air and ground assault were highly coordinated, According to FNA report.
The source said after the coalition’s pounding of the Syrian army near Deir Ezzor airbase, the ISIS could take full control of al-Tharda mountain and then Deir Ezzor military base, adding that the army and national defense forces deployed near the airbase immediately won it back from the terrorists by launching a counterattack.
Noting that Deir Ezzor is now almost in tranquility and no change has occurred in the military map of the region, the source said by attacking the Syrian army positions, the US seeks to prevent military operations to break the terrorists’ siege on the city.

Samantha Power walks out during UN Russian speech over US bombing of Syrian army

The United Nations is supposed to be the highest international body for resolving global disputes. Unfortunately, adults there behave worse than kindergartners.... - ed

"It is clear that the United States must come up with some very serious actions. What actions, I can not say now, but what I saw today, unfortunately, was very concerning, as my American colleague Samantha Power behaved very strange at the least," - said Russia's permanent representative to the UN Churkin on the results of the consultations of Security Council in connection with Western coalition air strike on Syrian government forces in Deir ez-Zor.

And I understand him. One look at Samantha Power is enough to understand, that there's just trouble in that head. Diplomat, the representative of the leading country at the highest international body, comes out for solo performance looking not like a diplomat but an old tramp that was just dragged out of bed, with a hangover. It's clear that this did not escape the eye of all the participants of the meeting of the Security Council. They just diplomatically talked about something else. Including the inappropriate behavior.

According to Churkin, when he began to share with the audience his concerns over Syria (a US strike in Deir ez-Zor on SAR troops), Samantha Power did not listen. Instead, she walked out to talk to the press, where she began to spit out nonsense about Russian-bombed hospitals and a breach of agreements - saying the moderates are bombed. Clearly, the woman had a hangover, had nothing to say, but did not have the energy to listen to criticism. So she exploded.

"And when she returned after my speech (I must say, her assistant did say, that Americans are trying to investigate what happened) said that she was not interested, so to speak, in listening what I had to say and that it's all a "stunt" and so on", – said Churkin.

Obama, with Clinton's help, has been a covert apologist for Muslim terrorists throughout his two terms. He protects them under the guise of not wanting to cause civilian deaths.
Meanwhile, terrorists hide among civilians knowing they will not be attacked.

I wonder if American/Coalition troops even know who they are supposed to be fighting against; The Syrian government, the rebels or ISIS.
