To wash, or not to wash... that is the question.


In North America, standard practice (and law in the US, I'm not sure about Canada), is to give eggs a sterilizing wash before they are packaged and put into refrigerators to be shipped to the consumer.


In the EU, the opposite takes place. No washing. And no refrigerator either apparently.


This one struck me as a truly odd little bit of confusion, and made me think...


Can Canadian Content convince me of which one is right?

In Canada it is the same as the states. I used to work for Vanderpol eggs/inovatech and they washed, candled, and refrigerated whole eggs. You don't want to know how long it takes to get to the supermarket from the chicken though.
