  • Saudi Arabia is an important ally to the U.S. as it provides a secure source of oil
  • Saudi diplomats now promise a 'major shift' in relations with the U.S. over inaction in the conflict in Syria
  • Secretary of State John Kerry says he is committed to keeping a good relationship with the Saudis

Upset at President Barack Obama's policies on Iran and Syria, members of Saudi Arabia's ruling family are threatening a rift with the United States that could take the alliance between Washington and the kingdom to its lowest point in years.

Saudi Arabia's intelligence chief is vowing that the kingdom will make a 'major shift' in relations with the United States to protest perceived American inaction over Syria's civil war as well as recent U.S. overtures to Iran, a source close to Saudi policy said on Tuesday.

Prince Bandar bin Sultan told European diplomats that the United States had failed to act effectively against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, was growing closer to Tehran, and had failed to back Saudi support for Bahrain when it crushed an anti-government revolt in 2011, the source said.

Obama has struck out with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Syria, Libya, Iran and Israel. He's consistent in his failure. Where has Obama succeeded in the Middle East? Oh...and let's not forget the lost war in Afghanistan and the deterioration of Pakistani/American relations.

Btw, how is Obama's Pivot to Asia going? Not very well. The Chinese hold him in utter contempt and make racial jokes about him. The Filipinos will have to move into the Chinese orbit. And the Vietnamese, famous as fighters, are making peace with the Chinese. Japan is rearming, South Korea feels abandoned, and North Korea has restarted its plutonium facilities.

How is the reset with Russia going? How are US relations with Brazil and Venezuela going. No one loves Uncle Sam except Canada. But I wonder how long that will last when the Canadians realize that the US is no longer in a position to guarantee Canadian control in the far north?

I think the Saudis are pissed that Iran is going to get atomic weapons and will then dominate the KSA and Persian Gulf. Look for the KSA to buy nukes from Pakistan. Proliferation will spread from there. The KSA imo thinks Obama has been ****less in his negotiations with Iran. Btw, Iran just gave the Russians a copy of the American hi tech drone that went down in Iran last year.

Egypt is on the verge of civil war. They can't get involved. Turkey is afraid of Iran because the Iranians will soon have nukes. The KSA can't stand against Iran by itself.
