Yes... he is getting the best medical attention in the world... in Cuba.

He's in a coma and being kept alive by machines. Ahhhh... that's called "died of cancer" in the rest of the world.

He had or still has cancer, he also has a respiratory infection.. his immune system is failing.. He is NOT in comma and the machine is a respiratory machine for enriched oxygen.

I doubt he will pull though.. however, it speaks volumes about the Cuba health care system.. some say it's better than the USA in many ways.

58 years old.. I don't like the guy.. but that's awful young to die.

He HAS cancer and had an operation for his cancer and now he is in a coma and on life support after the operation. He has not been heard from since December 11.

It's being said that he is Clinically Dead , and will not be officially announced till after the 10th b/c in Venezuela's constitution it requires an election in the event the elected official is not able to be inaugurated in Jan 10th.
Hugo Chavez entered in recent days in an induced coma , with very weak vital signs, maintained through the artificial[..]istance procured the Havana hospital where he was admitted. Sources consulted by ABC said Monday that it had scheduled a next power of artificial support extending the life of the Venezuelan president . That disconnect, with results expected to die , could occur at any time.

Venezuelan officials say Chavez is still alive, although they seem to be preparing the country for the news of the [rip] of the Bolivarian leader . His son and Minister of Science and Technology, Jorge Arreaza , said Chavez had reached the end of the year "calm and st@ble" . Meanwhile, Venezuelan Vice President, Nicolas Maduro , said Sunday that his situation was "delicate" .

For several days, the health of Chavezis considered critical , with its vital functions artificially[..]isted following the operation he underwent on December 11 due to advanced cancer suffering and postoperative complications provadas by infection .

With constant fever, loss of consciousness and the antibóticos unanswered, Chavez came to the end of the year in intensive care, without eating anything solid since undergoing surgery three weeks ago, with "anus against nature" and due to intravenous feeding extraction of about half a meter of intestine , according to intelligence sources with access to your medical team. Also their respiratory functions were artificially[..]isted after tracheotomy which was submitted by an infection that led to the retention of fluid in the lungs. That picture is completed with renal insufficiency .

In the operation conducted on 11 to remove her four crops of pelvis and bowel cancer , Venezuelan President were extracted 43.4 inches of small intestine. A biopsy conducted during surgery also detected cancer cells in the inner walls of the intestine and the bladder .

The operation, performed by a medical team arrived in Russia specifically, with the[..]istance of Cuban doctors also found that bone metastases and spinal cord was progressing steadily. Normally this would have probably required an upcoming bone marrow transplant, but his condition deteriorated and so has not allowed more performances.

My wife had this done a few years ago she was put into an induced coma and
put on life support that lasted six days and she came back not from cancer
though but a severe lung problem. Chavez is not going to live forever but it will
not make much difference someone else will take his place. The country has a
democratically elected President and a new election will likely follow it would not
surprise me if his successor won the impending election. The reason? Chavez
gave the vote to the poor who had no voice prior to him coming to power and
those people are still behind his peaceful revolution.
Chavez has a lot of faults to be sure however he is seen as the man to stood up
to America and the real blood suckers the International Monetary Fund these
people kept South America in poverty for years. Yes they bailed them out but they
also made it so growth was impeded as well.
This struggle for an emerging state will go on for another generation before they
straighten it out at least for now change is peaceful and it will go left and right like
all the rest. Chile is sorting things out after the fascists like Pinochet were gone
the socialists have the parliament the conservatives the President. That country
too, suffered from intervention when America assisted in over throwing the elected
President in the seventies.

Well said!
Sometimes in a democracy those elected are not always favoured by elites, either domestic or foreign.

And by those who swallow propaganda.

Can you truthfully say that you don't think Hugo Chavez is a dictator, enemy of democracy and freedom?

He booted out two representatives from Human Rights Watch, an independent organization that is not funded by any government?

Seriously though. Can someone factually explain to me how he's not an evil, fascist, moron who is set being an estupido mentiroso?

What Has Hugo Chávez Done for Venezuela Lately? - Reason.com

In rural areas of Venezuela there are power outrages, water shortages, you can't find milk, bread or eggs on grocery stores shelves. Chavez has destroyed a once prosperous country in an attempt to turn it into a South American Cuba.

Cliffy, you remind me of a Muslim who comes to Canada or the USA and wants to have the Western Lifestyle outside of his home, so long as behind closed doors he can still have sharia law. Oh it's a democracy, he was voted in.. lol after threatening his opposition and kidnapping family members of opponents.

If you feel that all the BS is just propaganda, then I will personally pay for a plane ticket and have a family adopt you for 1 year.. put your money where your mouth is.. otherwise STFU.

It will be under contract, you breach the contract you have to repay 3X's the plane ticket. It's a safe bet you won't last 3 months much less a year.

This is a good multicultural image the president of Iran a Muslim hugging
the president of Venezuela a Catholic not a bad photo. The big western
oil companies don't like these guys a bit because they are onto them.
Arma who ever he is(never could spell his name) I don't like because he is a fundamentalist Muslim and
Chavez is a democratically elected President I don't agree with a number of
things he does but at least he is using more of the national resources to
help the poor in his own country

...he is using more of the national resources to help the poor in his own country

WHAT!!! ???

You seriously think so...

"Why are there empty shelves in Venezuelan supermarkets?

Tonight I went to do my grocery shopping for the week. I will have to go again because many items were missing. And, by the way, I have started going on Friday nights as Saturday's mornings crowds tend to clean up the stores by noon.

There was no milk, under any guise, powder, skim, whole, fresh, UHT. No milk except for some infant formulas for problem babies.

There were no beans. Nor margarine to season them.

Sugar, white since last year, brown since two months, is gone. You can find some fructose if you are willing to pay the price. The choice for cookies was down to 1 third the usual choice, and pasta was down to about 20% of brands and varieties we were used to find. This seems to become permanent, just like sugar.

The Colombian yogurt I am used to is gone, courtesy of 2 weeks of border blockade. Blockade by Venezuelans who do not want to pay tolls in Colombia when they travel there. Their argument? "Colombians do not pay tolls in Venezuela". With such level of political discourse you do understand why Venezuela social fabric is decomposing so fast.

There is no napkins nor toilet paper. Then again, the way things are going eventually we will not need toilet paper anymore....

While I was waiting at the cashier the lights went out. Central Madeirense has its own generators so within 15 seconds the lights were on again and we could keep waiting for your turn. But it was a long walk with my bags to the car through the dark hallways of the small shopping center and the even darker parking lot. No emergency lights anywhere. I know, I am unable to find light bulbs to replace the burnt up bulbs for the night security beams at work. Incidentally this is the third, THIRD, power outage this week in San Felipe. Each power outage lasted more than half an hour, one almost 1 and a half hour. On now they are city wide.

On occasion I read some comments somewhere, some silly articles elsewhere, that Venezuelan increasing scarcity is a reflection of the increased purchasing power of the people. If we are to buy that silliest of arguments, then Cuba with its empty shelves and electric rationing has gotta be one of the richest countries in the world while Switzerland with overflowing shelves and all electric all the time has got to be a living hell for a population held hostage in poverty.

Another simple question: How far will human stupidity and bad faith go?"

Venezuela News And Views: Simple economic questions

Food shortages worry Venezuelans - CNN.com

Despite Its Oil Wealth, Venezuela Has Chronic Food Shortages Due To Government Price Controls

This is a good multicultural image the president of Iran a Muslim hugging the president of Venezuela a Catholic not a bad photo.

Yes unified in their Hatred for the USA and western society in general. ;) With all the food rationing and power and water shortages.. you ever wonder where all that money from Citgo and oil reserves go??
