Good for him. Now if we can elect someone who will stand up to the international corporations and banksters we might just improve our country and our lives.

I don't recall ever saying I hate western society or that I love Islam. I have issues with the farce we call a democracy in Canada and issues with the erosion of our constitutional freedoms. I have issues with corporate controlled government and a fiat currency system designed & destined to maintain us forever in debt to the international banksters. Other than that I love Canada....all of it....including you my misguided friend.

I have issues with every government on the planet. Now about our friend Hugo.
He came to power and they staged a coup, and when he countered it they called
him a dictator. In addition he gave the poor their first real chance to vote. The
people now repay their allegiance to him. No he didn't win with the big margin
of past elections but he still got more than fifty percent which is more than the
leaders in our country.
He is the leader of a democratic leader just a leader on the left. Why is it that the
people of South America moved on? The United States and wonderful people in
Europe and even Canada screwed these folks for decades. Now they are coming
forward with their own ideas and they are different from North America.
Come to think of it, we are different from the rest of the world. In Europe they at
least sometimes say no to the corporate masters. South America is regulating them
and when they step out of line, they take them from those who are not acting in the
national interest of the South American country effected.
Perhaps we should start telling the companies you don't behave in the national interest
we will not take your company, but we will suspend your right to mine or extract oil from
our territory.
Hugo got elected because the majority of the people wanted him to continue doing the
job he set out to do.

Maybe I grouped you unfairly with the other two.. and apologize.. gloat as you will now.. ;)

We live in a Global society, with International companies.. adopt and thrive and prosper. I don't see Canada or the USA in the near future reversing to a protectionist government any time soon..

Hugo Chavez is a nut bar that needs a bullet between the eyes, and anyone who glorifies Hugo should also meet the same end. The guy is a puppet of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Castro.

I'm not the kind of person to gloat.....well maybe just a little :p

It is becoming more of a global maket because that is what makes the corps & banks richer so they have bought our governments to enact things like nafta & gatt & spp. Things that benefit corps & banks more than citizens. We need to start finding people to elect that will reverse this trend and put the people first.

You can say Hugo is a puppet of whomever you like but he has the support of a true majority of voters and is making policy that puts the people first and corps after. Did you read the thread on Norway's oil money. They are doing the same thing, telling the corporations 'this is how you will do business in Norway and this is what it will cost you'. I think that is how we should be doing it too. It is not like these others aren't selling oil because of their policies.

I would like to think he earned a lot of respect from all Canadians during the last election. He very well could have been the next PM if he had survived. There may be another just round the corner, you never know.

If the people like him enough to keep electing him as leader of their country and feel they are happy with their lives overall.... That's all that really matters. The US and others can try and portray him as some evil dictator all they want, but they're only making up illusions to feel better about their miserable lives.

I kind of like the guy honestly. He speaks his mind like a human being and doesn't give a crap who's feathers he ruffles.... That speech he made about Bush being the devil?

I lol'd.

What, you mean the 47%??

I like the idea he was going to scrap Free Trade and NAFTA. A bad deal for Canada and our manufacturing industry, great for the big corporations that put profits before people..

China is a currency manipulator, and a corrupt government that has enslaved it's people under a communist government, yet we look the other way in complicity. Our morals have been bankrupt for the almighty dollar.

Fair Trade, charging tariffs for goods that come from China.. a 25% tax on all goods from China.

We need to make Canadian goods more competitive and leveling the trade. I know, most of you like your cheap $16 pair for jeans made by some young kid in a Chinese sweat shop bought at the local WalMart..

I for one stay in Canada because I know that we will succeed in ridding the country of subversive elements and finally building the vaunted much vaunted level playing field where we can simply step on the banking cockroaches and financial worms. I was born in Canada I'm not going away so get used to being chased by mobs wielding torches, faggots of tinder and plenty of tar cus you will see it in Canada.

I'm not being chased by anyone, your mindset is the minority in Canada, that is why we have a Conservative government..Come to think of it, Liberal or NDP wouldn't even fit your agenda.

We don't have a Canadian political party with the likes of Ernesto "Che" Guevara, so it looks like the one being chased will be you.

Are you completely ignorant of the dearth of manufacturies left in the west? You expect the fix from the same evil idiots who sold us down the piss river. While manipulation of currency, for better and worse, has been a specialty of successive Chinese Empires and I see no reason to conclude they will fail this time either, I'm puzzled as to why you would mention the Chinese forest when you're being blinded by western trees, federal reserve, wall strip, old stinky London Town.

It's good to see that there is some counter weight to Wall Streets hegemony of the tyranny of Global Investment Organism somewhere in the world. Not that socialism in its pure ideological format offers anything but the another form of the same.

The Global economy is in tatters.. staggering towards inevitable collapse. it is no longer able to get puppet states like the U.S. to do its bidding in militarily toppling nations that oppose it, as they did with the Arbenz government in the 50s Guatemala when it proposed land reforms that would disenfranchise the American Fruit Company.. and wish they had done with Cuba 50 years ago.

They no longer have that type of power. They last had that kind of power with installation the murderous military juntas of Pinochet in Chile and Videla in Argentina in the 70s.. and have lost American popular support because of that. They've just lost all credibility, even if they still had the power to wield.

No sensible person believes the Free Markets means a free or just society any longer.. except for a corrupt class of traders and plunderers.

I am in the minority, and proud of it, but I do try to maintain working relations with the common stiffs like you as per the engineering handbook. Canadian political parties are rotten to the core, full of little boys pretending to stuff the dam cracks with their spindly appendages. You're living in a time and place that's already history buddy. Why don't you get vaccinated.

Very soon uncle Ernesto's git will swarm over the planet eating all the good food meant for the filthy rich and the dumb wannnabees.

Canadian conservatives were wiped out to a man/person/woman/lbgt the day Peter McKay wielded the dagger in his courtship dance with Hermon Harper. I used to be conservative, the carnage was terrible, don't report me to the party, I'm frightened for what's left of Canada.
