Perhaps the US could offer to stay on past the end of the year, perhaps even with more troops than before.
Might as well use US contractors also for the final deconstruction, oh I mean reconstruction.

The west that the Canadian government supports, like by bombing the crap out of Libya for bogus reasons, a la Bush/Cheney.

Life in Iraq must be wonderful these days. I suppose that is why half of Baghdad has set up shop in Regina?

They probably wouldn't be able to leave the country at all if Saddam was still in power.

that is an assumption. based on the massive propaganda that was spewed over a long time to make sure that Iraq and Iraqis were dehumanized. Seems that some forget so quickly that Saddam was a friend of the empire......until he wanted to do a few things the empire did not approve of. (plus another litany of lies the empire came up with). Not saying Saddam was a humanitarian......but responsible people must be able to see every side of the equation without undue bias. (IMHO)

The war in Iraq has been benficial for importing a whack of highly skilled oil professionals.

Good opportunities for hippies to import camels and do caravans on the Trans-Canada Trail northern and southern prairie routes and make some good hippie cash.

I'd charge extra for former Republican Guards who want to do the Red Coat Trail. It would be a good reminder to them of "how the West was won".

It was benificial in seeing how badly a whole country can be raped and plundered. Iraq will never get the big returns from their oil. What isn't being stolen by the slant drilling from Kuwait will just not be developed as that increase in production would mean other OPEC Natrions would be required to cut back production and they will not want to do that $$$$$$$

In 1983, Kuwait increased its proven reserves from 67 Gbbl (10.7×109 m3) to 92 Gbbl (14.6×109 m3).
--

--
(Reuters) - Kuwait expects to add a significant amount to its oil reserves by March 2011, some of it from the world's second largest oilfield, Burgan, the chairman of the state explorer Kuwait Oil Co (KOC) said.

Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Otherstans had a deal to reestablish the Silk Road to China and a Moscow to Indian Ocean deal moving oil, gas, raw resources goods and telecomm NSEW through Asia.

Hence the Action Plan rush to build our infrastructure in North America they way they planned on in Asia.

Whoever builds their mega-infrastructure first wins.

They are also the first that have to scrap the old and rebuild with the latest innovations. If we build and use what we build to keep others from being able to build at the end of the oil we still have nothing of any real value, that means everybody loses.

Potash will rival oil in most profitable exports in a very short time. The wealth in the rock of north is mind blowing and there is still hundred of thousands of acres of farmland to be cleared and put into use now that we can turn dirt into soil very rapidly.

Things are looking brighter than most think..

Dang, that's where I left them.

Officials in New York have returned to Iraqi diplomats dinnerware once belonging to Saddam Hussein and the family of King Faisal II that was looted, then illegally imported to the United States and sold on eBay.
Nineteen dinner and salad plates, some which contained the official seal of Iraq, were being used at the Park Avenue Autumn restaurant as part of an art exhibit. The plates, officials say, were returned to Iraqi representatives at the United Nations on Tuesday.

Iraq Celebrates US Army Withdrawal

Quote:

December 15, 2011 "--" -- Iraqis burned American flags, brandished banners and thronged the streets of the western city of -- to celebrate the withdrawal of US troops.
Some 3,000 people flooded the mainly Sunni city carrying Iraqi flags, banners with "Falluja: The City of Resistance" printed on them, and photos of Falluja residents killed by US forces after the 2003 US-led invasion.

--

Good for the Iraqis. They never deserved any of the hell they were put through on the basis of mega lies. This "war" will continue to remain a black stain on the US as it should. Will the US learn anything from this "experience"?? probably not.

Little wonder there is little fan fare when the troops come home. It is embarrassing to claim Victorious in this sorded situation. A little humility might be part of this too. (or is it humiliation at spending over a trillion dollars on a war that hardly anyone knows the reason for. and has not known (for a fact) from the onset. No need to go with the liberation lie........as that was the last ditch lie...when those stockpiles (red faces would be very appropriate on the part of a few hi level US politicians ) of WMD.

********************

ot for a moment but what the heck is wrong with the many and varied sources I post?? At least I post some , while so many others just react with poster bashing attempting to derail the topic. Well, guess what. It matters little that some have so little to contribute to the conversation and even less supporting links. Each to his own. As long as you enjoy doing what you do on here.

cheers

Iraqi Girl tells of US Attack in Haditha

Ten-year-old Iman Walid witnessed the killing of seven members of her family in an attack by American marines last November. The interview with Iman was filmed exclusively for ITV News by Ali Hamdani, our Iraqi video diarist.

another lest we forget:

(warning: images of this "war" The anquish that many suffered , the personal losses, the terror they lived under .......)

Lest we forget: That Torture became "acceptable " to the invaders and they recorded it via camera for the world to see.
Lest we forget how badly the whole "justice" thing for SH was mishandled and they could not even do a proper lynching with out botching it . NO person warrants that kind of death. That is what distinquishes the civilized from the uncivilized. Those that laughed about it, gave bush SH personal gun as a trophy......belong to the latter.

the list of LEST WE FORGETs will continue to pile up as the dust begins to settle from this horrific decision and 9 yr tragedy.

War Without End, Amen: The Reality of America's Aggression Against Iraq

An eternal black mark on the empire's face. That too, is the reality. A reality that the "justifiers" "rationalizers" and war supporters refuse to face. yielding a secondary tragedy of how a population can be duped and then too stubborn to admit the truth due to some flaky pride factor. There is no pride in any of this horror. No matter how some will choose to spin it to make themselves feel better .
