War in Syria: Gamble for US

By Peoples Daily Online
Edited and Translated by People's Daily Online - (China.org.cn)

October 27, 2011 "
Peoples Daily Online" -- The U.S. State Department recently withdrew its ambassador in Syria Robert Ford because of serious concerns about his personal safety.

It seems that the recent changes of situations are proving that Syria will be the next Libya. Since Qaddafi was killed, the contradictions between the Untied States and Syria have been intensifying. Both countries have withdrawn their ambassadors. As the U.S. ambassador in Syria was being withdrawn, the severity of United Sates' accusations against Syria is also escalating. John McCain, a senator of the Republican Party of the United States, said that Syria is a focal point of the United States' attention and the military operation is an option for the United States.

According to the current situations faced by Syria, including the sanctions and intimidations from the United States, United Kingdom, France and other countries and the prepared Syrian rebels, it seems that Bashar al-Assad will be the next Qaddafi.

One could sincerely hope so!

The Assad regime are butchers. They are everything you accuse the USA of being. Back in the 80s, the people of Syria rose up......and Bashar's father, then ruler, murdered at least 35,000 of them..........

But, unfortunately, there will be no military action against Syria..........

except in the vacant heads of those folks at ..... OMG! I looked at your source!

Peoples' Daily.....

You CAN'T be serious!!!!!!

ROTFLMAO

NATO Chief: No Intention of Attacking Syria

NATO Chief: No Intention of Attacking Syria -- News from Antiwar.com

time will tell....

It isn't........not as long as people run the world. PEOPLE add that emotional componant to issues that prevents them from being truly fair, objective and reasonable.
Yup! We are like amoebas that have become self aware, but we are not aware of anybody or anything else. We are like little kids in a sand box. We are emotionally retarded adults with bloody big guns.

Imagine going back in time and giving a bunch of our weapons to a tribe of Cro Magnon Man and watch what happens. If it affects the space/time continuum, we would not be here.

Wow! That was a serious crock o' shyte. They didn't seem to mind all the carnage of innocents in Libya.

And the poster is wacko - meaning the OP - The only country that would go into Syria shares a border - Nope - Not Israel - Turkey - And they will only go if the Saudis foot the bill. This Thread is a crock of crap.

Turkey has already set up safe zones - also small militias of armed soldiers that have defected from the Syrian Army make up these units. Now arms etc, no fly zones etc - that will come from Turkey via Saudi dollars - If the Syrian Govt cannot settle and meet the peoples demands - I have stated long ago that Turkey will go in - It changes the regime - Places Turkey at the top of the heap for glory and respect within the Muslim populace shall we say - Undermines enemies of Saudi - Hezbollah and Hamas - Pretty hard to smuggle arms across a country that is not aligned with Iran. Power shift for Lebanon as well.

Talk of Saudi opening up the flood gates with more oil to undermine revenue for Iran is total BS - it would take months to increase output and then we would have the Iranians acting up about closing the Straits of Hormuz. Again that would draw in the US.

And the US ain't going in.
So in my opinion this Thread should be saved for next springs fertilizing of your garden.

I wonder if Canada will lead this one as well.

I hope so, we need to make the world safe for Sharia Law. Oh, wait, this is Syria; are we in favor of getting rid of fundmentalist Islamist regimes (see, Afghanistan), or are we in favor of installing fundamentalist Islamist regimes (see Libya).

where an actual U.S. military presence is lacking, the White House frequently gives the green light to the CIA to unleash a new wave of covert actions using its own fleet of armed Predator drones, a surrogate form of warfare. The result is that the United States now has a military and intelligence-agency presence of some kind in 175 countries, by some estimates comprising over 1,000 bases and stations. It is actively engaged in combat operations on every continent, and it has a self-declared policy whereby armed intervention anywhere and at any time is appropriate if Washington feels “threatened.”
One might well think that Washington’s overseas footprint, ostensibly intended to protect the American people from “terrorism” at a cost approaching $1 trillion per year, would appear to be more than adequate, but there is some evidence to suggest that the White House is looking for still more dominoes to tip over. The next presidential election is only one year away, and nothing makes an incumbent look better than a military victory.
