I first heard of an avitar from CSI, and then my kids, but anyway, my avitar is me.
To make a short story long, this is a photo taken of me warming up a Noorduyn Norseman MKV (I'll bet you get it now
) for a test flight that had been force landed into trees after a supercharger failure on take off and wrecked years before. I offered to buy it from my boss but he wanted to re build and re use it, (oddy, that probably wouldn't have happened if I hadn't made such an acceptable offer) and I helped with the re assembly.
Due to my past experience on that type I ended up as the test pilot, a requirement for re issue of the Certificate of Airworthiness. Oddly, ten minutes after this photo was taken, during takoff, the engine quit
, fortunately I was made aware of some (possible) irregularities with the fuel system and was able to restart it in a timely manner and complete the flight. There where a few white knuckles in the crowd that day when the noise stopped, (but none whiter than mine). We did figure out how to fix the fuel plumbing problem and I flew that airplane for two more years without incident before I left their employ.
A long short story, but I'm working on a book too, I should have it back to the library before it's due.
