Has 'A/american' become more of an ideal, then a nationality?

i say YES. the U.S. is far from being united (even tho its in our name lol) and it seems that the only thing ppl care about in the U.S. is money, looks, the media. u hear more things about celebrities than about our soldiers fighting for us, and just about anything more important than celebrities.
unless u meant ideal as in a role model. then in that case i say NO! ur country is much better off the way it is.
