go into control panel click edit avatar and voila --I dont remeber a post num,ber needed --I look around and mabye soone else may help

I think it may be a combination of how long you are around for and how many posts. I don't post as often as some (today excepted because I'm very bored and my meeting was canceled) and I was able to upload an avatar after about one week or 20 some odd posts.
