For years they have been heralded as evidence of alien life on Earth.
But when it comes to patterns etched into farmers' fields, it looks like it's humans this time who have gone the whole hog.
For the world's first pig crop circle has been discovered deep in the English countryside.
The pig, which suddenly appeared in a wheat field just southwest of junction nine of the M11 on Sunday, is more than 250 metres wide or the length of two and a half football pitches.
Crop circles have been baffling scientists, farmers and the general public for years, with even former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher ordering an official investigation into the phenomenon.
This latest design comes in the wake of the discovery of a 360-feet three-dimensional crop circle on a wheat field in Oxfordshire.
That formation, which gave the impression of looking down on skyscrapers from above, was spotted last week by a microlite pilot.
