I believe in the science of Astrology, but the fluff in my paper is make believe.

I am a Virgo, type A perfectionest.

Nope, I don't believe in astrology. I'm the left brain type: analytical, rational, logical. I find the wonders of the natural world more fascinating and mystifying than anything the human mind can dream up. I don't consider it beneath me or anything, it's just a mindset that does not suit my style.

My sun sign is Cancer, btw!

Carl Gustave Jung, one of the more famous students
of Freud, did quite an encylopedic study of astrology
specificly focusing on the orbit of Mercury, the planet
in Astrology symbolizing communication, speedy travel.

The ancients spoke of the musical parallels of the
orbits of the spheres.

Nothing has been proven, nor disproven ----As Rumsfeld
borrowed a famous pithy statement: Absence of Proof
does not mean proof of absence.

Just one little side note, the daily horoscopes are based
on the Sun in your 1st House, and bases its forcasts
on the activities dedicated to each house.

So it is better to read the sign that is your rising sign.

LOL !!!

I love astrology, although I'm not a huge beleiver in mostof the stuff you see in store.

I'm a Scorpio, more suspicious than skeptical. guess it depends on the other influences in your chart.

I'm a Sagittarius. Apparently we are

"Optimistic and freedom-loving
Jovial and good-humored
Honest and straightforward
Intellectual and philosophical"

But I was born on the 20th, so close to Capricorn...

"Practical and prudent
Ambitious and disciplined
Patient and careful
Humorous and reserved"

I lead a double life.

I'm a Rat in Chinese astrology. Let me guess Jay, a Dragon?

I don't tend to get along with Sag people, but all my best friends are Sag/Dragons. Including my mental case ex-husband.

I don't believe in astrology but there are worse things to believe in. Just don't bet your life savings on your horoscope in the newspaper. There are literally hundreds of millions of people in the world with your sign. Seems a bit crowded doesn't it? Beats me...

My Horoscope today:

Quote:

You finally get a foot in the door when it comes to that big financial deal you've been trying to finagle. Sealing the deal, however, could prove to be an adventure in and of itself. Don't give up -- you'll soon reach your goal.

Hear that DarkBeaver? Mo money for the capitalist pig. Oink!

I'm somewhat reluctant to get into this, because it's probably about as unlikely to change anyone's mind as a debate between an atheist and a Christian about the existence of god would. However...

There is no science of astrology. It's pure pseudoscience, flummery and self-delusion from start to finish, and has nothing to do with reality. It has no plausible mechanism, doesn't survive routine statistical analysis, has no internal logic, its practitioners cannot agree even among themselves about the basics of how to do it, and it has contributed exactly nothing of substance or value to any legitimate field of human knowledge. It is, in fact, demonstrably false.

Think you're a Taurus, for instance, according to the sun signs? Wrong. The sun was not in Taurus when you were born, it would have been in Pisces or Aries, depending on the exact day of your birth. 2500 years ago when the Babylonians put all this together it would have been in Taurus, but due to an astronomical phenomenon known as the precession of the equinoxes, things have moved about 30 degrees west of where the Babylonians saw them. I'm a Taurus, and on my birthday the sun was about in the middle of Aries according to this little astronomy program I have here.

So should I read the horoscopes for Aries, or Taurus? Doesn't really matter, they're all nonsense anyway.

"It has no plausible mechanism,"

Gravity?

I dunno...I've always just figured it was fantasy land stuff.

You figured right.

Gravity won't do it. The forces of gravity on you at the moment of birth from the people attending the delivery are greater than any astronomical object produces.

I see a whole new belief mechanism being born here....why can't I think of these things?

Ah yes, the number and arrangement of persons around your mother at the moment of birth determines the whole future course of your life...

I don't believe in astrology in general. I'm Aquarius.

Have a nice day!

Well naturally, I thought that was common knowledge. It's much better to be found under a damp rock. The rock's higher gravitational field and greater radioactivity would have improved your life immeasurably. My sympathies...

And P.S.

Missile, been meaning to mention this for a long time: I love that current sig of yours, "Crawling from the wreckage." I hope it's not literally true, but it's a fine bit of wit that always gives me a chuckle.
