Do you recon women will ever get round to getting on one knee?

I like it when you hear the odd story where a woman asked the man to marry her.

But why is it rare?

I think it is cute.

Good Lord, Man......it ain't rare!!!!

Nor is it cute......they don't get down on their knee (good thing....every guy in the world would misinterpret that!) They stand right in front of you, arms crossed, eyes fixed on you like a hawk that sees a rabbit....

It ain't pretty at all. :)

Yeah, but what do you do when you're dating someone of the same sex?

What the Hell am I supposed to do, lol?

Do I propose? Do I wait for the other person? Gah! I'd never know! lol

I dunno... my wife asked me to marry her. Well, really it was more like she told me I should, for my own good. She said to me, at a time when we were just friends, that I had a terrible history of choosing women for myself (a profoundly true statement that only a true friend could make), so she'd do it for me, and she knew a perfect one for me. "Oh really?" I said, "and who's that?"

"Me," she said.

That was 26 years ago. She was right. We're still friends, above all else, and that's why we're still together. Being friends is what carries you through. Marry your best friend of whatever gender you prefer, and you'll make it.

thats funny.... to paraphrase, "nagged into marriage"?

just joking with you Finder.

Dex, you are correct in assessing friendship as a good measurement of future success. I wonder though if "friends with benefits" fits well into this category?

I don't think so. The "benefits" come after you've decided you want to be more than friends and have made an emotional commitment to that effect with each other. If you do the "benefits" first, you're just f*ck buddies, and there's no commitment implied. Whole different situation.

That's a very cool story, Sinister.

All the best to you and Mrs Sinister. :D

Women are supposed to ask????

I thought when women brought up a marriage proposal, it was more of a determined suggestion.
