What Would We Do Without Researchers?

"The Elf on the Shelf is preparing your child to live in a future police state, professor warns":
For some, the Elf on the Shelf doll, with its doe-eyed gaze and cherubic face, has become a whimsical holiday tradition -- one that helpfully reminds children to stay out of trouble in the lead-up to Christmas.

For others -- like, say, digital technology professor Laura Pinto -- the Elf on the Shelf is "a capillary form of power that normalizes the voluntary surrender of privacy, teaching young people to blindly accept panoptic surveillance and" [deep breath] "reify hegemonic power."
The paper was published by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.

Because of course it was

Yeah, huh? And I turned out to be a psychopathic mass-murderer, child molester, and bacon-eater because of the violence on Bugs Bunny shows.

Wow, really? I just became cynical and sarcastic.

Lol.
Well, ok I exaggerated a little bit. The first part is just potential. But I am a fearsome bacon-eater. hehe

If there was to be a wrong headed policy they would be the ones to champion it.

I suppose there are some parents out there that do not think about what they buy their kids and have no clue that kids are like sponges and soak up information like little computers. But, as evidenced by one of the examples in the article said, parents changed the shelf elf game rules.
And we learned before our kids got to the age of 5 they knew the difference between things like pretend, play, and most crap on tv from reality. Kids are not stupid; just small.

the mental masturbation these arseholes attempt is mind boggling. the credence given to their mealy social experimental tries is also quite retarded.

but anyway...forward!
