Winter was world record warmest

With Bostonians digging out of their snowiest season and New York expecting flurries on the first day of spring, it might be hard to believe, but a report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association released Wednesday said that globally, winter 2014-15 was the warmest on record.

From December through February, NOAA reported, the average temperature across global land and ocean surfaces was 1.42 degrees F (0.79 degrees C) above the 20th century average. This was the highest for that period since record keeping began in 1880. It surpassed the previous record set in 2007 by 0.05 degrees F.

Average temperatures for 2015 to date also set a worldwide record, with last month coming in as the hottest February since 1998.

The new data follow on the heels of the official word in January that 2014 was the hottest year on record.

But the story has seemed much more complicated here in the U.S. The Pacific Northwest is seeing an early spring and heat stifled runners in the Los Angeles Marathon Sunday. Meanwhile, Boston has seen 108.6 inches of snow, more than has fallen there in a single season since 1872, and cities all around the Northeast are dealing with record-low temperatures of their own.

What a riot.

The coldest winter in a 100 years in North America. No explanation as to exactly how they derived at these figures.. but they have selective methods to assure all doubters that their own senses are wrong.. and we are in the middle of a heat wave. The more the reality flies in the face of their theories the more outrageous their concocted counter evidence.

There are people who are bamboozled enough to believe this clap trap.. but it seems sooner or later all but the most muddled will surmise they are being fooled.

The dumbest part of all this is that there doesn't need to be any 'alarmism' if we just address the issue already.

Pro warming folks can't wait for people to get their check book out and give
till it hurts to pay for something they can't control. There has been times
when we go through warming and cooling trends and this is another in a long
series of them. No big deal

How many bank transfers will it take to stop climate change again?

Can you still pollute as much as you want as long as you make bank transfers?

You got your water wings fer when yer snow melts ?

Bawsten and Newfie: who woulda thunk ?;-)

It is melting so slowly Nuggs. We have only had a few warm days in which the water flowed down the street. The days have been just over freezing around here for the most part.

When (if) we have some real warming the trouble areas I think will be where the snow mountains are. My grass is slowly appearing but where we shoveled the snow we still have a good pile of it know what I mean?
