This is something that must be implemented. A basic income would be a vaccine for the rampant poverty and crime so entrenched in our society today. We also need to confront the issue high unemployment as jobs become more and more obsolete with every technological advance. Here is a fact - there are not jobs for everyone! How would you remedy an issue of this magnitude? With a basic income.

Basic income -- just add that to all the prices of everything as thats where it will go. And to fund that, we will pay more taxes. So in the end, those who are middle class will have less money and those who are poor will be no better off.

So your solution is to stiff the next generation with a $600B bill and no jobs available to work at so it could be paid off? That explains why things are the way they are pretty clearly. Why shouldn't they walk away, it is your pension and stocks that will going up in flames, they will never see a pension.

I offered no solution. I simply pointed out the flaw in the OP.

The only idiots that make statements like "there are no jobs" are those that don't want to work. Lots of jobs now and in the future in the trades. With Baby Boomers retiring, there is and will be a shortage of workers.

Pretty well all the people I've met who want a job have one. Sometimes they have to persevere for awhile at something they don't like until they either improve their skills or their attitude. :) Sometimes it takes a little patience to convince someone you are worth a $million a day. But hey that's life..................."the early bird gets the worm". :) :)

We already have a basic income for all. Called welfare. Want more than that get off your lazy azz and get a job.

There are jobs but some want to begin at the top of the ladder instead of at the bottom. What I have noticed is they were told what they were supposed to earn, not what they could eventually earn after they have acquired experience. However, many employers are only looking for new employees with experience, but how are the young people supposed to get experience if they cannot find a job! This seems to be one of the problems on the job market today.

The next generation can quit protesting ever economic driver in the country if they want jobs. Can't protest mines and pipelines and complain about the lack of jobs both.

There already is a shortage of workers. Just the young don't want the jobs that take them away from their computers.

One way is possibly offer to volunteer for a short people, but of course that wouldn't be popular with everyone.

A basic income would give them enough money to not have enough, the poverty and crime would treble overnight. looked at any reserves lately? Gawd you are stupid.

People should be given a free lot of land, enough to survive . Not a monthly check

Considering how much land we have

Survival makes you smart, Pushes you to become the best you can be. That or you die trying.

Maybe Canada does, but the U.S. doesn't provide welfare to single people.

I would like to see a set-up that allows anybody who doesn't have a job and can't find one to go to work for the local government, cleaning up trash, scrubbing graffiti, and suchlike unskilled labour, for unskilled labour wages.

That's not a bad idea.
