The 61-year-old told a tabloid newspaper she now lives as a woman called Kellie.
Maloney, a twice married father-of-three, has been living as a female for more than a year and has begun hormone therapy, the Sunday Mirror reported.
“I wasn't born into the right body, I have always known I was a woman. I can't keep living in the shadows," she said.
The newspaper told in a six-page story how Maloney's unhappiness over her secret wish to be a woman had led to the end of her marriage, and that she has no intention of looking for a relationship in her new life.
