Why are most Muslim countries so backward?

Any Islamic country that is "advanced" is due to the influence of the west...

Islam restricted the advancement of any country under islamic rule because - well if it is not found in the Qur'an or Hadiths - it is not from Allah and therefore not Islamic and not to be followed...

Of course, muslim swill cry foul! Look at the Islamic Golden age - really??? All that knowleldge was stolen from other cultures... and when scholars started to study indepth thios knowledge many started to leave Islam and the imams saw this and closed the doors of Itijihad as it was a threat to Islam...

Islam is stagnant... No nation can operate efficiantly if it has to shut down 5 times a day for prayers and then for one whole month pretend to fast... All Islamic countries experience a negative downturn in (what else is new) productivity during that time...

There is no time for real thought if it is not Islamic... ergo little forward movement...

Backwardness is a trait of Islam... There has been no forward movement in the last 1443 years and any country Islamic is forced on people it becomes a third would country.... That is moving backwards...

India - the truth hurts you - muslims cannot protect their women and it is a sad state of affairs when you admit your women need to be protected - by whom - other muslims! I know of no states that show muslim women being raped by non-muslims yet there are truckloads of incidents of muslims raping everyone they can the world over.... So who do we trust with our women - not muslim men as you incinuate by saying muslim must protect their women!

@Indian, you fail to understand statistics... Rape in western countries was on the decline until immigration from muslim countries increased &now there is an explosion of rapes of western women committed by muslims who think itistheir right to rape whomever in the west - that is wrong &backwards. Furthermore, in muslim countries, rape is not reported unless it is a high profile incident like just recently... But how many muslim fathers or brothers rape their daughters is disgusting but not reported by the woman... How many women are raped &it goes unreported is astounding... for every one person who comes forward at least 4 remain silent due to the stigma & fact the woman will be blamed &man set free under islamic law - yes Islam is backwards when men can walk freely with impunity &the women are always to blame... At least in the west - we help the true victims - you punish them!

PS - muslim men are told to treat women well for they are like cattle - cattle Indian...

It's the same in Britain. Certain places here with high numbers of Muslims in end up become medieval no-go zones riddled with TB.

Everyone know all religions practice ancient doctrines and will stagnate.
You are too angry and reactionary to defend your views against religion.
Remember less is more. Point out how incredibly backward the doctrines are and let the bleeding heart defenders make your case.

The observatory did not survive to advance the development of astronomy in the Muslim world. Within months of the observatory's completion, a comet with an enormous tail appeared in the sky and Sultan Murad III demanded a prognostication about it from his astronomer. "Working day and night without food and rest" Taqi ad-Din studied the comet and came up with the prediction that it was "an indication of well-being and splendor," and would mean a "conquest of Persia". Unfortunately, instead of well-being a devastating plague followed in some parts of the empire, and several important persons died.[2] Taqi ad-Din was able to carry on his observations for a few more years but eventually opponents of the observatory and prognostication from the heavens prevailed and the observatory was destroyed in 1580.[1] Other sources give the "rise of a clerical faction," which opposed or at least was indifferent to science,[3] and specifically to "the recommendation of the Chief Mufti" of the Ottomans, as the explanation for the destruction of the observatory.[4]

Muslims have been anti-science ever since.

The crusades, mongols and the elimination of ljtihad by religious fanatics around the same time. For some reason they never really recovered which is unfortunate. They had a good run in their golden age.

As for "stealing" ideas and practices - every culture does that including our own.
