Video: Obama calls gun control reforms 'common sense measures' - The Globe and Mail

Obama has made public his plans to try to improve gun safety and I don't see what the NRA donkeys have to complain about. One would think that even these turkeys could see that something had to be done.

Best I can tell, all of barry's executive orders are expediting or expanding background checks and information sharing between agencies. No new legislation will be passed through executive orders.

Morning Joe Calls New NRA Ad Taking Aim at Obama's Kids 'Sick'

It is sick.....and stupid.

The president's families have always been protected. This is not something Obama
has introduced.

The problem is always in the details. No matter what the President, or the Congress may do, it can not violate the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

The ONLY way to affect that right, would be to pass a Constitutional Amendment. I do not believe that any such amendment would have even the slightest chance of passing both Houses of the Congress with the required majorities, and even if it did, 3/4 of the States would not ratify it.

If the sale of weapons, of ALL types, were to be made law in the USA, it would have virtually no effect on gun violence for decades to come.

Today, the President said, "Weapons designed for war, have no business in a movie theater." He is right, but no weapon designed for war WAS used in either the movie theater shooting or at Sandy Hook elementary school. Those may LOOK similar to the M-16, but they are NOT automatic weapons, like the M-16 is.

I can guarantee that I could easily kill any number of people with my .22 rifle, which has a 10 shot magazine. I can change magazines in less the 3 seconds.

And, if someone is determined to kill a bunch of people, it's really easy to make black powder out of readily available ingredients. I can make a "black powder grenade" in less than an hour, and it would kill or severely injure anyone within about 10 meters of it going off. Using more modern ingredients, I could easily make a MUCH more powerful bomb or grenade, if I chose to do so.

I left out a few key words above. If the sale of any type of weapon was prohibited by law, it would make very little difference for decades to come.

And you sound happy about that. Congress has the power to produce legislation and Obama has passed the ball to them.
Will they do anything? I doubt it. Republicans are too busy patting thenselves on the back.
