I think its time for a comparitive analysis of Richard Bennett and John Diefenbaker.
Two prime ministers of Canada...prematurely yanked from power and under-rated in all ''official'' histories.
One main charge laid against them: They didnt effectively help Canada in its problems.
HEELLOOO!!
Even though Bennett had the misfortune of being in the midst of the depression, he was one of the most socially active prime ministers of his time and also created some of the most basic infrustructure we take for granted today: the CBC, the Canadian Wheat Board, as well as financial assistance for farmers. There's more, too, but memory escapes me.
Bennett even helped people with money out of his own pocket....seems like a generously hearted man. Now, what other prime minister did such a thing to the regular folk? Mackenzie King? Arthur Meighen? Louis St. Laurant?....methinks not quite sooo...

That's right.....LETS STOP INSULTING A GREAT PRIME MINISTER!!!

Perhaps I'll save Dief for another thread....
