• Reg Spiers posted himself from London to Perth in a wooden crate in 1964
• He survived the 63-hour journey via Paris, Bombay and Singapore
• Took with him a bottle of fruit juice, two tins of spaghetti, a packet of biscuits, a bar of chocolate and a tube of fruit gums
• Spiers went on to travel the world with his lover, assuming false identities and smuggling narcotics for international drug syndicates
• He was sentenced to death in Sri Lanka in 1984 for plot to smuggle heroin
• He had his conviction overturned and was extradited back to Australia
• Now 73, Spiers lives in Adelaide with his partner and two dogs
