Researchers have discovered three sunken ships just outside San Francisco's Golden Gate strait.
The team from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said one ship was the cargo steamship SS Selja, which sank Nov. 22, 1910.
An unidentified steam tugboat was also found, which researchers have tagged as a "mystery wreck."
They also found the site of the 1863 clipper Noonday, although it's obscured by mud and silt on the ocean floor.
The discoveries are part of a two-year project searching for an estimated 300 shipwrecks in the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary.
"These wrecks tell the powerful story of the people who helped build California and opened America to the Pacific for nearly two centuries. Finding the remains of these ships links the past to the present," James Delgado, director of maritime heritage for the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, said in a press release.
