Speaking of which, while I have always been intrigued by history, I find that reading compilations of a person's letters often tell a great deal more about a historical figure than do their bios. This is especially true of Jack London.

I believe that I mentioned before Angelina Grimké's Appeal to the Women of the South as the greatest letter I have ever read:
