It could have been "The Green Budget", with a central focus on programs for fossil fuel emissions reductions, in the face of global warming.

Instead, Harper's 2007 budget is "The Pandering to the Bloc Budget", something that should make conservatives squirm. I don't know what it takes to get conservative supporters to reject their leaders when even this obvious ploy to placate the Bloc does not shake them. {Not that they would like to see any money spent on global warming projects...]

Its not doing the unity question any good either - one of the main irritants in the "Quebec VS. the Rest of Canada" clash is the fact that Quebec gets more money per capita than other provinces. This announcement only deepens that divide. You see, it wasn't really about Quebecers, but rather about keeping the Bloc MPs from rejecting this budget - the Bloc, plus the CPC [conservatives], together have just enough votes in Parliament to pass anything they agree on [which is not much].

This cozyness between the CPC and the Bloc should make anyone question the sincerity of the support from the Bloc, and moreso we should question the dedication of Harper to the principals of conservatives - we have never heard of them campaigning on a platform of "payola" and "vote buying".

I don't get it. Why are the Libby's up in arms over this budget? It was one of the most "Liberal" budgets I've ever seen. Hell Trudeau would have been proud of it!!!

If anything this budget plays to the federalists in Quebec. Hence Charest will get a boost because of this budget.

It was the Liberals under Chretien that almost lost Quebec at the last referendum.

Which party do Quebecers despise? Liberal party
Which party do Albertans despise? Liberal party

Which two provinces are threatening to seperate?

Are you sure you want to talk about national unity if you are a Liberal supporter?
