The world in the past has been ruled by force, and man has dominated over woman by reason of his more forceful and aggressive qualities both of body and mind. But the balance is already shifting; force is losing its dominance, and mental alertness, intuition, and the spiritual qualities of love and service, in which woman is strong, are gaining ascendancy. Hence the new age will be an age less masculine and more permeated with the feminine ideals, or, to speak more exactly, will be an age in which the masculine and feminine elements of civilization will be more evenly balanced.

Woman’s lack of progress and proficiency has been due to her need of equal education and opportunity. Had she been allowed this equality, there is no doubt she would be the counterpart of man in ability and capacity. The happiness of mankind will be realized when women and men coordinate and advance equally, for each is the complement and helpmeet of the other.

Furthermore, the education of woman is more necessary and important than that of man, for woman is the trainer of the child from its infancy. If she be defective and imperfect herself, the child will necessarily be deficient; therefore, imperfection of woman implies a condition of imperfection in all 18 mankind, for it is the mother who rears, nurtures and guides the growth of the child. This is not the function of the father. If the educator be incompetent, the educated will be correspondingly lacking. This is evident and incontrovertible. Could the student be brilliant and accomplished if the teacher is illiterate and ignorant? The mothers are the first educators of mankind; if they be imperfect, alas for the condition and future of the race.

Whole lotta scripture goin on here and we know how women have been regarded and treated by religion!
I love the one about the "woman sinner" - it never refers to the men who used "the evil she" for their own purposes.
Also, I feel I have to remind all of us about the fact of life: Without women none of us would be sitting at our computers writing away the day!

Egad! A search for references to women in the Bible turned up this http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/women/long.html ,almost 300 generally negative references to the nature and role of women.
The older religions had high reguards for Roman. Such religions such as the old Eygption, Greek, Celtic and to a lesser extent the Roman.
the oldest Western saying on the subject is, women: you can't live with them, and you can't live without them!

"Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord...Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her." (Ephesian 5:22,25).

How can a woman have anything; whatever is hers belongs to her husband? What is his is his and what is hers is also his...... Her earnings and what she may find in the streets are also his. The household articles, even the crumbs of bread on the table, are his. Should she invite a guest to her house and feed him, she would be stealing from her husband..." (San. 71a, Git. 62a)

" If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives" (Deut. 22:28-30)

I just wanted to share what my religion says about women.
When the three most powerful of our Gods, Veles, Perun and Svarog created man, they began thinking about creating a mate for him. And no one knew how to do it. And then the summer Goddess Kupava gave up her divinity and immortality and went down as a woman, to be the mate to the first man. It was a kind of a sacrifice on her part in order to give birth to women. She never resurrected as a Goddess again. So, my religion says that every woman directly decends from a Goddess.
