A recent Vancouver Canucks telecast included a "shoot-out" that was sponsored by Cialis. Funny stuff, but isn't this breaking the Canadian rules of pharmaceutical advertising?
In Canada a pharmaceutical company can advertise to inform people about a medical condition and treatment without using a brand names. I didn't notice this ad discussing the issue in an "objective manner", as the Pharmaceutical Advertising Advisory Board claims it should be. It seems that ED drug makers have their own set of rules, which is basically no rules at all. I understand that in the US it's all fair game but this was a game on Sportsnet in Canada, not something broadcast to or from the US.
I'm surprised this type of advertising is not being addressed by Canadian regulators. Apparently a Canadian manufacturer can move to the US to advertise in Canada and bypass regulation.
