sanctus or someone said the usa was more racist then Canada.

I was pointing out that we are not immune.

Playing TV on ExpressVu! Durka! The block buster game... I wish you had family feud on there.

ExpressVu is getting licenses for trademarked games all the time, you never know.

Do you play Playin'TV?

Yeah, I play the demoes, and some games I order for $1 for the day.

Think I will subscribe next month... probably cheaper!

Some games don't work on the 9200 apparently.

Oh, and still no go on TSN Extra and CBC News Plus, on the triggers on channels 400 and 502.. this is even on my 4100 receiver... no go.

All the interactive applications & triggers should work for your 4100 receiver, make sure you have the latest software on the box. As for the 9200, 400 & 520 have not been enabled yet.

We were hijacing that other thread - yeah.

So, updates are "enabled" Durka and my 4100 receiver still is a no go for iTV... maybe I am not waiting long enough, or the I don't press select correctly.

And its never worked on 9200...

maybe my receiver is screwed.

With your 4100, tune channel 400 or 502, after 10-15 seconds, you will see a banner appear asking you to "Press Select etc etc". If you somehow miss that part, the trigger will attach it self to the info banner. Press "info", you should see a little graphic on it for the trigger. If that fails, check to see that TV enhancements are enabled, you could also try a reseting the options to factory.

The "triggers" are currently hidden to the 9200, they should be enabled in the near future.

Well I did not wait enough! That was the problem.

Both 502 and 400 triggers work!

Pretty good too!

So why are the 9200s not able to do 502 and 400.

And I heard about CTV News Vu... when will we see this? and what is its theme?

so what are some features that the iTV crew is working on?

CTV News Vu?
Game Show iTV aps?

You know this technology can continuely advanced... I have heard not so distant ideas as "interactive" commercials.

Say a pizza commercial came on, Bell could put a iTV app on it, and press "select" to order now, then you get a menu, and your reciever dials out the order.

If not on regular tv, BEV could do it for $$ on their simsubbed commercials on FOX News Channel, CNN, Headline News... instead of the current promos.

That would be cool being able to have interactive commercials!

Another thing I was interested in was, will iTV ever be able to work while your in guide mode? it always disables when you click guide.

If you live in the States, you can order ExpressVu here.

http://www.canamsatellites.com/

ExpressVu only goes so far south, though. Apparently, you can't pick up the signal in LA, Dallas and Miami, though I get it here in north Florida. Star works though, I understand. I have read it goes right into the Caribbean and Mexico.

It came in very good when we were in Arizona, (Express Vu), small dish.

yeah Star Choice works well anywhere in the USA.

But a few years back Bell ExpressVu realigned their continental footprint.

The further south the bigger the dish.

I wonder if you can get the HD/foreign programming satellite in the USA (Nimiq 2 I think)

Although Bell ExpressVu does not have a license in the USA, so its not condoned by the company, but ALOT of snow birds take them with them to Arizona, Texas, and Florida... but its harder to get down south so the snow birds usually go with Star Choice now.

There is going to be some interactive porn movies coming out at some point. :)

ExpressVu is looking at all sorts things to do with the iTV. One thing you will see soon is called "Green Guide". For instance, if you are not subscribed to lets says TSN, it will show up green. When you press select on it, it will allow you to order it via phoneline, giving you instant access more or less.

Yeah, but TSN and other channels are in theme groups

So you would be ordering an entire theme pack for TSN.

So more or less your saying in our Guide if its not subscribed we can click on it and subscribe, it will come up with the details of order, you purchase the theme pack, and its immediately available.

Making it so you never have to call in to get channels?

Yeah I heard about Interactive porn games.. lol

I still hope we get interactive commercials! Ordering delivered pizza on my tv would be awesome.

The green guide idea could be applied to any channel, or themes what not. That's just an example.

Less calls to the call centre is better for both the consumer and the business. As a consumer I dislike ever having to call a call centre for support, billing etc. I would much rather do it by the web/interacyive tv etc.

Not porn games, interactive movies. ie. being to change the camera angles etc.

Oh like those websites that have interactive tours of their room suites.

You could rearange the angles for a "better view" :)

Doesn't 188 have something similar to the Green Guide.

You can order packages there..

I have a question.

Satellites can only download not upload.

Upload would require a different system through internet connection or something.

So if satellites can download, why can't they do VOD?

Cable uses download for VOD..

Why is it so impossible to stream videos to receivers...?

Satellites send out a constant data stream which cannot be paused, fast forwarded or rewound, which kills the whole PVR theory. There is no acknowledgement system with satellite, you either have the signal or not.

This is not a question about pirating just asking:

What is the general state of Bell's woes from satellite piracy?

Have they cracked down yet?

Star Choice and DirecTV can stop it so why can't BEV or Dish stop the piracy?

An analogy I would is to Microsoft and their software constantly being targeted by hackers. If you have a large marketshare, it become financially rewarding for hackers to exploit flaws. As soon as Bell releases a new encryption scheme for a card, there is hackers trying to break it.

Yeah but Bell loses money if they sit back and do nothing.

And it hurts the other providers too.

I read up on the Nagra fiasco.
