Business - Dealing with Chinese Companies

I've been trying to make a large wholesale purchase from a Shangai company. They say they only distribute through a company in B.C. The BC company itself claims to be a manufacturing company(?????) and distributer. To contact them via e-mail, you need to go to another site by yet another name. This name and site layout looks a lot like a Walley World ad, with the front page splattered with pictures of items for sale. The prices are really retail prices, and there is no way I can purchase 100 of these items at more than 100$ each. I couldn't resell them if I tried.

I get the impression they are a MFG company with their own distribution and retail chain. Is this a typical arrangement? Any way to deal with this situation?

Thanks
