Bell Tier 2 warranty - Save your money. I just signed my 16yr old daughter up with a Bell mobility cell phone for their three year contract. I even took out the extra warranty to make sure there were no additional problems. The sales person assured me that everything was covered except loss and abuse. Six weeks into the contract, the phone is dead after being dropped in the grass, it was raining at the time. I have been told that the warranty is void because of moisture damage. The tier 2 warranty, they now inform me is simply an extension of the manufacturer's warranty, therefore meaningless to me. I tried to negotiate applying the remainder of the now defunct warranty towards a new cell phone, but was told no! Do I have any other options? I now have a dead phone with a manufacturers extended warranty, and a three year contract with no phone to access it without forking out big bucks. Any comments from anyone out there with a similar problem?

Unfortunately, accidents resulting in damage to a product, in particular accidents that would involve the consumer (such as dropping a product) are quite often deemed "abuse" for the purpose of contracts and warranties.

While I understand your situation, the manufacturer should not be held responsible for your daughter having accidentally dropped the phone. Warranties are designed to protect the consumers from faults of the manufacturer, not from themselves.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. That phone is worth more than it looks like when wrapped in a cell phone contract. What I would do is go to ebay where you shouldn't have a problem finding a replacement phone for cheap.
