Hello,
Me and my wife we were flying for the first time with Air Canada from Montreal-Toronto-Lima.We were supposed to get in Lima, Peru on the 28-02-2005 at 6h30am but instead we arrived...2 days later, on the 1st of march 2005 at 1h00am.We missed my father-in-law birthday and acumulate an impressive amount of stress and disappointment.
Here is a copy of the email sent from Bogota, Colombia and another more detailed message sent by fax and by email from Lima,Peru to Air Canada. Have fun reading and for what you gonna read Air Canada offer us 100$ each!!!!

Message sent from Bogota, Colombia on the 28-02-2005:

"Hello,
My name is Adrian Ersov and we are stuck here in Bogota because Air Canada misbooked us and 3 others families, Canadians as well.We all have to go Lima,Peru.
The hole story started in Montreal with a delayed plane for about 1 hour and the rest of the intinerary was upsidedown. We get to Toronto, the luggages were lost or stoped because and as a result we have to stay for the night in Toronto with no news for our luggages or if the connections were booked propely.
We manage to took a plane from Toronto to Bogota with the assurance from an Air Canada official that the connection from Bogota to Lima was ok and that we dont have to worry about whatsoever. We got here in Bogota and to our big surprise, the connection to Lima wasnt done in Toronto.
As a result we have to stay the night at Sheraton FourPoints and we keep calling the Air Canada office and with no luck. They told us that is not their problem and that maybe theres a flight on this thursday.
We manage to get a name as per Carolina Guzman shes the supervisor that works at Air Canada office at the airport. Her phone number is 4138910.
On behalf of the other 2 families that they have 4 kids in total, we kindly appreciate your help in this situation.
Best regards,
Adrian Ersov "
------------------------
Message sent from Lima,Peru by fax and by email:
"Lima, 22-05-2005

To whom it may concern,

Me, Adrian Ersov and my wife Katya Yndigoyen Velazco, we were supposed to leave from Montreal Trudeau Airport on the 26-02-2005 at 20h00 on the booking nos. JQJUWL/AA, flight no. AC 427, but we left 1h30 later because the plane had a technical problem. The route was Montreal-Toronto-Toronto-Lima and this was the first time we were flying with Air Canada.

We arrived in Toronto around 11h45pm and our plane AC-80 who was booked to make the connection to Lima at 22h30,left.

When we get off the plane in Toronto, the personnel from the Air Canada told us to first rebook our connection for our destination and then go to look for our luggages.

They give us a plane for next morning at 7h30am but when we were about to get our luggages; no way to find them.We been told by the personnel of the airport in charge of the luggages that theres no night shift, that the luggages were somewhere in the airport and that we have to wait untill the next morning.

The value of the luggages was that in one of them it was my wife wedding dress and the personnel from Air Canada were keeping telling us to simply declare it lost.

We got our luggages at 7h15 and because off the luggages problems that were in a different section of the airport than our flight, we lost our connection.

We were supposed to be already in Lima at 6h30am and the personnel from Air Canada was telling us:¨ That is not their problem¨.

The same morning on the 27-02-2005 we were supposed to have another connection but when we were about to get in the plane we been told that there wasn’t enough places on the plane so we miss again our plane.

All this because Air Canada over sold the tickets and it all started with the late plane from Montreal. They were keeping telling us:¨ That is not their problem¨.

After loosing the plane 3 times because of Air Canada, we finally manage to get a connection from Toronto-Bogota-Bogota-Lima and we left in the afternoon.
Before living from Toronto, I asked and we been told by a supervisor of Air Canada that theres no more problems on the way, that our connection from Bogota to Lima is OK and confirmed and not to worry about our luggages because they were flying directly to Lima.

Once in Bogota, Colombia, an Air Canada official told us there were no more places left ,that the plane was booked and we have to reschedule our connection.

In Toronto as well like in Bogota, we´ve been told that is not the problem of Air Canada and that maybe theres a flight on the next thursday, the 3rd of march 2005.

We manage to get a name as per Carolina Guzman the official that works at Air Canada office at the airport in Bogota. Her phone number is 4138910.

Well, we had to rebook our flight the night of 27-02-2005 but there were no more planes available. So we had to stay in Bogota, Colombia for the night wich cost us in calls and different expenses the sum of 220$US.

The next day on 28-02-2005 at around aprox. 20h00 we left Bogota to Lima,Peru after making calls and pression at Peruvian and Canadian embassy and at Air Canada office.

We arrived around 01h00 am at Jorge Chavez Int’l Airport on the 01-03-2005.I remind you again that we were supposed to be in Lima,Peru on the 27-03-2005 at 06h30am in time for my father-in-law birthday.

I was thinking that Air Canada is a big company, that takes care of its clients propely, that for the price we pay we should get the service we deserve.

I was thinking flying more with Air Canada because it represents Canada all over the world and because I´m a Canadian.

I understand that you can get 1h late but 2 days later it´s unthinkable.

You have no idea of the level of stress and nerves you put on both of us and on our families, making us missing our father-in-law birthday and arrive at destination 2 days later. The thing is that it was my first trip to Peru with Air Canada.Should I consider the last trip with Air Canada?

Me and my wife, we demand full personnal and emotional compensation and reimbursement of the plane tickets.

The only good service I got out of Air Canada was from their sister airline United at the Seattle Airport. Rarely do you hear good stories about Air Canada. They've screwed up royally.

Best of luck getting anything out of Canada's Airline.

I certainly agree with you that the service from Air Canada needs some attention. But it is a company full of unions and union employees who don't give a rats ass about the customer. The problem is that they know they can't easily get fired for giving attitude.

That's the bottom line.

This sounds like the same guy that reckoned Canada was the most over-rated country in the world. I could be wrong......

It does sound like him, doesn't it? Air Canada is no worse than Canadian was and I've heard as many horror stories about West Jet now that they've gotten bigger. You hear similar stories about all the the airlines in the US, and I've heard some real doozies about Quantas too.

No point in blaming just one airline here. They all suck.

It could have been worse HiFlyer...you could have been on the Bear Air flight from Winnipeg to Sioux Lookout. If the co-pilot has a sore back, you have to carry your own luggage.

I've had dozens of good flights on Air Canada. They even took very good care of my dog when we flew to California from Saskatchewan, stopping in Calgary. Some nice lady took me straight to him in Calgary so I could take him outside to play in the dog park during our layover.

Don't get me started on Southwest though...

I have found Air Canada service to be among the best from airlines. The staff is always nice and attentive. They also have comfortable seats and are among the world's top rated airlines. They are definately much better than a lot of the others. Sorry....

I have a friend in a wheelchair who wanted to go to Toronto from Vancouver. He got his ticket, boarded the Air Canada plane, and landed in Toronto ........... while Air Canada left his wheelchair in Vancouver. They had to borrow one from Pearson to loan to the guy. He'll never fly Air Canada again and I myself have had good experiences with Wardair (now Westjet). I really resent having my tax dollars supporting a badly-managed, mickey mouse, banana-republic mentality airline.

air canada in my experience is fine as long as u don't try anything unusual. If one member of staff hasnt come across what you're trying to do (for instance take a wheelchair with you, or bring giant quanities of excess baggage) then things can easily go very wrong. and they're not too good at putting it right again. This is pretty normal for airlines.

Perhaps, but my friend has only ever had wheelchaor problems with Air Canada. I tried it once and thought the food sux. (Food is an impoortant part of my life and I don't treat the subject lightly). Westjet food is good. My tax dollars don't go to supporting Westjet and they do for Air Canada.

air canada is not the worst airline i've gone with but it is the lowest value for money. So far i've been on british airways, qantas, air canada, westjet, central mountain air, easyjet, monarch, and that american one with the silver planes. there's not a big difference except with the low cost easyjet, where u have to survive a scrum when u get on the plane, but it's worth it to be able to get to the netherlands from the Uk for GBP15

To darleneonfire: My comment was adressed to the original writer. He's a former boyfriend who didn't pay his rent and was not nice with me, so what goes around comes around. That's all
