Rona flyer in Ontario Buy 2 get 1 free

Hi, I was wondering if anyone seen the rona flyer for flooring and paint this past weekend. "Buy 2 packs of selected 7mm or more laminate floor packs and get the 3rd pack for free" 3 for 2.
So we went in last Friday and got 12 boxes of flooring and 3 cans of paint. 2 invoices. We were billed/charged for 9 boxes of flooring and got 3 for free. And the paint, I bought 2 and got the 3rd for free. I paid and left without checking the bills. In my opinion the flooring turned out to be buy 3 get 1 free ( not buy 2 get 1 free)and the flooring was right/fine. We went and and TRIED to talk to them about this, but their "cheat sheet" stated that you buy 3 get 1 , buy 6 get 2, buy 9 get 3 and so on. And they wouldn't see it any other way. I asked them I thought it was buy 2 get 1... he said well yes, but no.. its a third off sale..?!! So I called headquarters, and the other local Rona. Both of which pretty much said I was right. Even if it is a "third off sale" a third of 12 is 4.. but not according to their "cheat sheet". Has anyone else had any issues.. or if I am wrong please explain this to me. Oh, by the way, the store owner called me today , and agreed the paint invoice was done correctly, and when I asked him about the floor, he said it was ok as well,, and proceeded to read his cheat sheet to me. He wouldn't even dream of being quiet and listening to my way for a second. His way was right.
Thanks!

If the deal is buy 2, get the third one free, then if you buy 8, you get 4 free. End of story.

I'm just curioius, if head office is agreeing with you, what you think a debate board would be able to accomplish?

Simple solution; return the stuff, and buy 2, get one free. Then buy 2 more, get another one free. then buy 2 more, get another one free, then buy 2 more, get another one free.

I don't shop Rona for anything, and I try to stay away from big box stores. The deal
you get today puts another smaller local store out of business and losses jobs in a
community. The deals are not that great when you put it into context so no I don't
even read their flyer's.

We don't have a choice in the city. There are no 'small local' lumber yards.

I agree with dumpy.

Also, product knowledge and experience is severely lacking.

Buying paint from one of these joints is usually a problem waiting to happen.

Really? I find the old guy working in whichever section at Rona, and he's usually a semi-retired electrician, plumber, depending on the dept. I've gotten tons of great advice and know how. Even Home Depot sometimes has knowledgable staff working their departments.

That's because you're a girl.

Last time I went to HomeDepot, I wanted a garage door. They had 5 in stock, all on the top rack, so they would need a forklift to get it down. I searched for someone to ask. Spent 15 minutes trying to find someone in the door & window dept, the only person I could find was a guy from their IT contractor, fixing a computer. A woman from another dept tried to find someone to help me, I finally gave up and left, as I had other things to do.

That's often the case at Home Depot. my fave was the time we took one of their huge ladders, after hunting for someone unsuccessfully for 20 minutes, and climbed up to have a look at a display tub. Someone appeared in an instant. "You can't use that!" Hubby explained "well, we've been waiting for service for 20 minutes and finally decided it looked like we needed to serve ourselves." To which the guy replied "Oh, okay then"... and promptly disappeared again.

The 'old trades guy' is probably ok wherever you go box-shopping but paint is still a big problem.

It's all the other bodies floating around. The aisle 'civilians' trained for 3 hours by power point. They is who ya gotta worry about.

I've bought paint at this sale before. The trick is to know how much you should be charged before you pay. Remember most of the checkout clerks are arithmetically challenged. Simply refuse to pay until they get it right.
