Sorry , I hate PC's, stupid trial software, blue screen. viruses, download this, download that "error" sorry windows has encountered a problem and needs to close- the spreadsheet you've slaved over for four hours is now toast -sorry-apologetic peices of junk

It's still a PC. Mac is not where you want to go. Dell HP Compaq etc all make sevicable machines. If price piont is your guide then Mac anything is way out of the ballpark. You will need to get new software. All of it. Word for mac and anything else you were running is different for mac. If price is no object then mac is the way to go.

Price is a bit of an object. It looks like the IMac is the Apple computer one would start with. and it is over $1200.00 dollars, plus any software I might need, plus the hub for the printer, which makes it more than double the price of the PC. I can't seem to justify the price difference.

We have the windows software for that stuff and we would have to get Apple software if we went with Apple. My wife already has Windows and what she basically needs is a new computer. At this time I can't justify the cost difference.

It is the general consensus that Apples are too expensive, and their much-flaunted superiority is either not there, or not worth the extra bucks. I started this topic with the idea in my head that Apple was superior to just about anything out there.........an idea no doubt fostered by those people I know that use Apple.
I'm coming around to the idea that one of the more user-friendly Linux distros like Xandros Desktop would be just as good for my purposes.........Certainly cheaper.............

My computer is is an AMD dual core 64 Athlon that I could use for Linux. I don't know if I want to put windows on it as well.
I think my wife is going to go with a Acer bundle that would give her 2.8 ghrtz, 3 gig of RAM, 500 gig hard drive, Windows Vista home premium, Plus, plus, and a 20 inch LCD monitor that she can get for under $800.00
