My RAM is only 256mb. About a month ago McAfee released a new verion of it's security. Ever since my puter has slowed to that of molasses. I have order 1GB of RAM which I hope will add another year or two of life to my system.

Anyone else use McAfee and find the newest release taking over their computer?

My computer has suddenly taken a turn for the better. Just the threat of adding extra RAM made it pull up its socks and get to work.

If you're having a problem with your PC just describe it here and explain the actions you will take. It will scare your computer back into shape.

I had a similar problem with Norton a few years ago. I gave up and went back to AVG. I've used the AVG free version for seven or eight years. The only time I had a virus problem was when a hard drive failed and I hadn't yet re- installed AVG. I'm using 500 meg of RAM because I have one of those "All on board" motherboards with the built-in sound, video, and Ethernet modems The motherboard steals 40 meg of RAM as soon as you turn it on. I have two more 256 meg RAM chips but my board has only two slots. I could buy a couple larger chips but RAM has never been a big problem. We can almost guarantee that the next computer will use another kind of chip.

AVG is free, it gets automatic updates which are also free.

I installed my 1GB memory and processor upgrade. The speed and operation is vastly improved.

I use McAfee, but I haven't gotten the newest version yet because I have to wait for my credit card to come in the mail so I can order it online, but if it slows my computer down I will let you know ^^
