Please be advised that Rogers is discontinuing its Usenet service as of December 15, 2005.

I utilized Usenet quite a bit for downloading music and pirate software.

So, because of this, I'm gonna quit Rogers as soon as possible.

I think that GigaNews offers unlimited downloading from Usenet for 25 bucks a month. And, I'm now searching for a half decent ISP.

I run 2 servers through Rogers and have been for the past 3 years. One server is for bible studies and the other is for my site and forums. Nobody caught me yet, ..... Thanks be to God! But, I've always been a bit paranoid about people accessing my sites and downloading videos and stuff like that which would increase my bandwith useage and perhaps sic Rogers onto me.

Does anyone have suggestions for a new ISP and also towards getting a service which provides for Usenet?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm aware of the address you provided. But, I was hopin' that people would provide or recommend a particular service to me and thus detail the reasons for their recommendation.

I'm sort of new to this idea.

I'm on the prowl for a service where I'll be able to run my 2 sites legitimately and was hopin' that readers here would give me some suggestions on what ISP I should use and perhaps detail the money costs and stuff like that .... from their own experience.

I use Rogers, and I didn't get an email from them about this...strange. I use the news groups too....

Rogers offered the Usenet service for free.

I could be wrong but I believe GigaNews charges 25 bucks a month for access and unlimited downloads.

It seems all that Rogers offers now is the bare necessities of Mouse Land and very little else.

I'm thinkin' about going a DSL line.

I'm not too familiar with this kind of stuff because I never cared to research it because Rogers suited me just fine. Not now though. I'm quitting them for sure. I'm just looking for alternatives.

I signed a three year contract with Rogers. I suppose if this is going to be their stance (a lower level of service) I have a way to get out of it.

Here is an update about how I'm doin' concerning my search for a new ISP and a place where I can host my 2 sites legitimately.

As far as Usenet is concerned, I guess I could use mIRC and grab "zero-day" pirate software .... but yuh gotta stay right on top of things when grabbing stuff "zero-day".
