Okay.... I bought my first computer in January. My friends have now labeled me as a "geek"......kinda joking and kinda not joking....All i do is play an online game or two, stop by here... and ya... so i got some "friends" whose faces I will never see....i check my e-mail whenever I can and I'm on my computer a lot...BUT...I hardly think that I could be considered a "geek".
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING A COMPUTER GEEK
and all i wanna know is.....how much time in a day are you on your computer?
Let me know if im a geek too...i really wanna know

A "geek" these days is considered a sign of intellect and honor! A sign that you are truly brilliant and have mastered the technology of the day. When they call you a geek just say, "Thank you!"

I'm never on my computer...I don't want to crush it.

Being a writer, I'm on my computer for extended periods most days. I could be on it a lot less, but my usual method of writing is to waste a bunch of time here, then do some work, then come back here, then do some work.

I'm proud to be a geek... I spent about 6-7 hours at work behind the screen or some form of technical work... And at least 4-6 hours a night of personal time

So I spend on average 12-16 Hours a day working with or on computers, or communications systems.

NickFun has it essentially right, I think: being called a geek is a compliment. On the other hand, his Location field claims he's on the porch carrying on with 3 college girls, so we know he's living in a total fantasy.

I used to spend 10-12 hours a day at a computer, but that was when I was getting paid for it. I'm not any more, all my use is personal now. I haven't been keeping track, but I'd guess it's about 2-3 hours a day.

Anything they'll pay me for. What I like best is non-fiction, what pays best is technical/safety stuff.

just FYI.....I don't care what they say about me, or if I actually am one....I just wonder if I am...
oh..and I spend anywhere from 2 minutes to 12 hours...and computers have nothing to do with my job and I'm not counting homework time either...

I play Zuma sometimes, but I suck at it because I hardly ever play and I'm usually on the phone when I'm playing. I start when I'm on hold, then the guy on the other end finally picks up and I have to grab a pen. Then I lose.

Personally, I don't think someone who uses a computer at work or to play games and answer e-mail at home constitutes being named a "geek" anymore. Maybe back in the 80's, but not anymore. Computers are part of the social fabric now. I mean, even my father reads and sends e-mail and plays the odd game of cards on his PC... and he's no geek!

I'd say that if you've repartitioned your hard drive a few times, installed and played with different operating systems now and again, and even get as far as hacking your MS-Windows registry from time to time... then you're a computer "geek."

Spider solitaire is n excellent way to be completely unproductive. It's not an on-line thing though...just a gift from Evil Bill.

Is an MS-Windows registry like the gift registry at Canadian Tire? I'm guessing I don't qualify for geekdom....

Not even close. You can get useful information from the gift registry at Canadian Tire.
