Has anybody had experience using Rogers' news server? I've found to get extremely fast speeds by using it. Usually around 2.9mbps... just really fast.
I can never seem to achieve that speed on regular web sites or file-sharing services. Ah well, the NNTP is great, so I'm happy with that part of the service

When using NNTP there is little overhead. This is why you see the speeds you are seeing. Plus most of the news downloded is text. It is the same concept with FTP. If you use Internet explorer to FTP from a site, it is usually very slow compared to when you use an FTP program.

Rogers has recently completely shut off the nntp service, yet another service cut yet its not accompanied by a price reduction. There's no more email services, news services, web hosting services.
