Fr. C. G. Vaillancourt

Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life" [John 14:6]. If He is the Life, then we must come to Him to find everlasting life. Eternal life is to know God and to know Jesus Christ whom He has sent [John 17:3].He offered us eternal life when He gave us the food for our souls in the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist; I am the bread of life, Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood will have eternal life. [John 6:54]

Life on earth depends on food, life after death depends on the food for our souls which is the Holy Eucharist. This gift of life cost Jesus His death, He died in order to pay for the sins of all humanity and to lift the curse of paradise " You are dust and to dust you shall return" [Genesis 3:19] .

During the Holy Mass we proclaim the death of Jesus and announce His resurrection, because dying He destroyed our death and rising He restored our life. So we pray, Lord Jesus come in Glory [1 Corinthians 11:26].

Being thankful for the gift of life, we must come to Jesus daily and honour God for having created us. We must thank and praise the author and sustainer of life for taking care of us mere creatures made from the dust, we must thank Jesus for restoring the image of our souls to God's image so that we can enjoy life forever.

We must also be thankful to Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary who conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit the ruler of all nations [Revelation 12:5]. She is the mother of life, the New Eve, the mother of all the living , the "Woman" who undid the sin of Eve.

She is full of Grace and She has been given the task of caring for the children of God, Jesus says to all his beloved disciples who stand beside his mother, "Woman, behold your son" [John 19:26].

Jesus has triumphed over sin and death, His victory is eternal life, [1 Corinthians 15:54-56]

54 And when this mortal hath put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?
56 Now the sting of death is sin: and the power of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, who hath given us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

After the end of the world which is predicted in the Holy Scriptures, those who are saved will share the attributes of the divinity including everlasting life. There will be no pain, so suffering, every tear will be wiped out from our eyes. "Death shall be no more" [Apocalypse 21:4]

Jesus said: "I am the resurrection and the life: he that believes in me, although he be dead, shall live and every one that lives, and believes in me, will never die. [John 11:25-26].

Eternity has one flaw: it's too long. I'd be bored stiff in a situation like that after a week. And I'd want the ability to move around. Find some woods and fields and vistas beyond. A chance to move on and find a place totally removed from the crowd. A new land, a new start, a new frontier. I'd probably be gone a century and no one would notice.

Sorry, Sanctus:

Sounds like a load of twaddle to me. This collection of plagiarized stories makes more sense as reassuring bedtime stories for people afraid to grow up and equally afraid to die.

Eternal punishment? What crime, ever, deserves eternal punishment? How is that just or proportional? Not keeping the Sabbath?

Gimme a break.

You certainly are free to ignore material of this sort. Your disagreement with the content does not change the truth of its message.

Oh, indeed, I claim the right to ignore stupidity of all kinds.

Two reasons I also claim the right to rebut this post:

One: It makes claims about the world and how it works. Claims that are disputable.

Two: You posted it in a public forum.

The problem, Sanctus, with your logic, if what you wrote can be presumed to live within the realm of logic, is that the "truth" of something can be called into question if logical disagreements can be raised.

If something cannot be disproved, then it cannot be proved - I hope you've read at least some Karl Popper, Sanctus - therefore it lives outside the realm of any claim to the truth.

The moment you say something is true, it is subject to test. Any truth claim is therefore refutable with a strong (true) enough counterargument.

Or do you simply want people to swallow sugar coated BS without question?

Sorry brother, had to put in my two cents worth.

In defense of my good brother Sanctus; I agree with everything he said considering that, that is the way that he chooses to worship his/my creator.
There is no argument with me in that what matters is that he is worshiping God.

What tops any argument mankind can give, is that Jesus paved the way to life eternal of which all of us were void of, and in which some of us are still in the void and some of us are not.

Now, enter your selected verse: "I am the way, the truth and the life" [John 14:6].

This verse whether accepted or not renders all opposing arguments concerning God as null and void.

If understood, then life begins, if not then life continues as is, till death.

All the theologies and all the mysticisms of the world matter not, but the belief in Jesus does.
For He is who the Father/Creator is, so what can mankind add? Absolutely: nothing meaningful.
The only advantage a believer has over the non-believer is a re-birth and the struggle to grow.
It’s like a full grown man or woman, already mature in age and life experiences and all of a sudden having a re-birth.
A: re-birth? Meaning that when that happens, the individual’s soul is ignited with life from God, and salvation is granted and that mature individual now becomes a babe in Christ.

Must learn to talk, walk and live in this new birth and work out that blessed gift of salvation that was granted at birth.

All this happens in the heart of the individual, solely between God and the individual, nothing else included.

The best (Good) people on earth are the ones who rule with heart, regardless if they believe or not!

That being said qualifies every soul for salvation. Can everybody see that?

That can be a mystery is there is no understanding.

Where to begin, Look3467? Where to begin?

What arrogant nonsense you write!

According to who, exactly? Not according to anyone with a working forebrain, at least. What a closed-minded, superior, ignorant position to take. What a mean and hateful thing to write. The sad part of it is, you are likely so blinded by your own certainty that you cannot see this.

This verse whether accepted or not renders all opposing arguments concerning God as null and void.

That kind of absolutist thinking led to Pope Innocent (oh, what an ironic name) to say, regarding the Cathars, "Kill them all, let God sort them out."

The best (Good) people on earth are the ones who rule with heart, regardless if they believe or not!

Really, now Look? Yeah, I bet the Crusaders were ruling with their hearts, and the Salem witch hunters, and every other butcher who has killed, maimed and burnt in the name of their God.

Yeah, those are the best.

Go throw rocks at children.

Arrogant as it seems, by me thinking that way, you are included in the hereafter.

I see your soul as saved by Christ, but whether you recognize it or not has no bearing on the end result only on the present.

For me to see you as a soul saved by Christ is accepting you as to who you are. Therefore you are my brother and I will accept you as such.

Now, the opposite is not true, for a non-believer cannot accept me and my religious beliefs because there is nothing for him to stand on except for what he believes to be in this existence: And which ends at death.

But I rather believe in the God of Heaven, life eternal and one God who loves you and I so, that He provided a way for us to receive eternal life without exhibiting any righteous efforts on our part.

Righteous efforts do come as a result of Christ in us, but not before.

Sorry that I sound mean to you, but the opposite is truer, that I will love you in Christ regardless of who you are.

That is a feature that in Christ I choose to practice and of which all others could not claim the same without first having the love of God in them.

Its: black or white and with no gray areas.

No fence straddling.

If you wish to discuss this further, I’d love to entertain you.

Be advised that I quote lots of scripture.

Look:

Anyone can believe in the tooth fairy or supernatural teddy bears for all I care; indeed private beliefs are none of my (or anyone's) business.

When truth claims are made, however, on any side of any topic, the whole world is invited to jump in. I care not to debate scripture with you (a mug's game, the book contradicts itself so many times anyone can take any position they want and find scriptural defense), but I will call BS on any truth claims made about the supernatural.

Isn't it odd that everyone from embrace-the-gays United Churchers to gay haters like Fred Phelps find justification in the same book? Witch burners and slave owners to liberation theologists have all found justification in your plagiarized book of folk tales.

If it allows everything, it stands for nothing.

I will give you everything except for the last sentence quote: “If it allows everything, it stands for nothing”.

You see that is the key to the whole existence of this life. And that is to be your own god!

But if: you must be your own god, than you must be separate from the God of your creation.
For “a” god lives for himself!

To give up self and accept God the creator as “the” God, then life begins. Otherwise, you exist only in this life and not in the other.

Yeah, but it pumps blood, it doesn't think or feel.

Pangloss

True, because we all have one, otherwise, we wouldn't be posting.

But the heart I speak of is not your pump, but the heart of your soul.

Here, lets explore this a little further.

You are who you are because it is you and not another. You are pangloss for a lack of a real name, but yet you have a certain character, personality which is all you.

That is your soul's make-up, and there is where I place my comments on.

For that heart, feels, thinks and causes the flesh to respond to it at will.

If you see a child in need, your pump don't know the difference, but you soul's heart does, and it will go out in action to help.

That souls' heart can be a temple. A temple of the living God.If Christ abides in there, then you have life living in that temple where you can worship God in spirit and in truth.

All the church organizations are nothing but external earthly temples, but the real temple is in you.

That's what Christ came to set up. Prior to Him, people had to have a place of worship, but after Him, the temple was moved into our hearts.

If you could but grasp the magnitude of that, then you would see as I see, and love God with all our hearts, mind and soul, and added to that is loving our neighbor as our selves.

So than what's the dif if one is Catholic, Muslim , Jew or an non-believer? Absolutely nothing!

What matters is what is in the temple of one's heart. If God is there, than there will be love springing up like a well-spring.

Sorry Look, but as has been said hundreds of years earlier - "I have no need for that hypothesis."

God explains nothing, predicts nothing, helps nothing. The concept of god is a pointless appendage left over from ages of darkness, superstition and ignorance. We no longer need it.

I have nothing left to say. . .

Well, at least we had some intercourse concerning the unbelievable one.

I'll be around as a clog in the wheel. Just think, without people like me what amusement would you have?

Jesus is reported as having said a lot of things that turned out not be true. At least 8 times, for instance, he's reporting as having said things that clearly indicated either the end of the world or his second advent would occur within the lifetimes of the people listening to him: Matthew 10:23, 16:28, 23:36, and 24:34; Mark 9:1; Luke 8:27, 21:32, and John 21:22. Paul clearly indicates several times that he believed it too, and many of his prescriptions and recommendations for correct behaviour are rooted in that belief. James and Peter also clearly say they expected it within their lifetimes as well. Hasn't happened. I don't see any good reason to take any of this stuff seriously.

Um, according to the Holey Bible, Satan killed 10 people. God killed 9 million+. He throws temper tantrums. Visits plagues & pestilences on people. Hanging out with the dood would be eternal punishment if he actually existed.

Well Dexter, you said it correctly, it was reported. The resource for a better understanding of what He said is from Jesus Himself.

By Jesus I mean the Holy Spirit. He said: Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Man can say anything they think God said, but nobody can say what the holy Spirit says unless He first says it to you and I.
And I can say with all sincerity and certainty, that what He has shown me to understand is all good and worthy of sharing, for it condemns no one.

The end of what Jesus spoke about is the end of the beginning. The beginning is the beginning of the flesh of which was tainted. The end of it was the beginning of the new: untainted.
Jesus said that He would come again, but not bodily. Meaning in spirit: which is, the Holy Spirit.
Here is the verse: John 16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

When Jesus said it is finished, that meant that the new creation was in place and in need of no more fixing, so He rested from His works.

One thing that a serious student after God’s truth is that many things thought through out history are not necessarily the whole truth. Portions of the truth maybe, and some ride down deceitfulness too.

But all that was taken into account and therefore is allowed as a free gift. The free gift was/is life, life eternal.

We are exempt from the penalty of eternal separation, or non-existence to that of eternal existence with God.

The penalties of behavior are met while still alive in the flesh.

Jesus thus ended the penalty over the flesh for the purposes of eternal life only.

That makes a whole lot of sense because it condemns no one, and that is what Jesus thought, eating and drinking with sinners, praying for Peter who betrayed Him 3 times, forgave the lady caught in adultery, healed folks by only their faith.

So if anything, all that comes from above is all goodness and with abundance.

Tapping in on that is the question.
