Looking at pornography and engaging your mind in sexual fantasies is a mental rehearsal of, among other things:
— self-centeredness;
— selfishness towards others;
— using others as servants of your own pleasure and preferences.
Masturbation rewards that mental rehearsal with physical pleasure.
Thus, masturbation is a sin that trains you to sin more and more— not only in actions but also in attitudes.
How might you move in the opposite direction?
First: Stop.

Absolutely priceless....
Advice on sexuality coming from the practioiner of a major religion that's been exposed time and time again as harboring sexual predators....
There's no limit to the hypocrisy of the Roman Catholic Church and its preparedness to ignore its own failures and deny the damage caused by its heirarchy while spouting advice and platitudes.
It must be tough to live with the knowledge that after two thousand years....the moral fabric of the church itself is replete with molesters thieves and liars...and yet still require that these people (fathers bishops cardinals etc.) be handed the legitimacy of a corrupt faith to be used to address a human condition that they themselves have been unable to marshall....

I thought the reason men weren't supposed to masturbate was that they were wasting potential people when they did it. Since that isn't the case with women, I don't see why we shouldn't be allowed...
