The United Church of Canada has been infested with Liberals.

They cherry pick what to believe and not believe in the Bible.

Some local branches had GAY (immoral, wrong, sinful, cast to hell) priests!

I know of a minister who doesn`t really believe in Hell.

That church is just a feel good church where immoral a-holes attend every week to feel good, and then backstab each other the rest of the week.

Its like confession in the Roman Corrupt Church, where you sin all ya want, and as long as you speak to some priest its fine (FYI confessional came from the Catholics wanting to know the news of the village, also the real reason for no birth control is to make catholics pump out more mindwarped babies to become Catholics)

United Church = the next worst thing to an atheist.
OH boy....he's fiesty tonight.

I dunno...I was baptized in the United Church...the priest that oversaw my grandmothers funeral at the United Church was gay, and did a fantastic job. He was a great guy.

I dunno...who cares...I don't care....it's not like I go to the church, but the united church seems to be the one my family is most in line with, and that suits me...because, well, of any church, it seems to suit me the most, if I were to be a church going man.

I find those who complain the most about people cherry picking from the bible, cherry pick the most.
Of course, while some cherry pick the bible choosing call some sections metaphor, others who claim to be literalist follow "interpretations" (aka people making things up) that conveniently allow them to ignore bits they don't like... "oh I can not live a life of poverty, I can be a rich christian, I just intpret the bible differently, but I still follow it all..not like those liberals"

All I know is that I like cherries...they are the most tastiest of all of the fruits species...which noah saved from the big flood by loading it on to his tiny boat with the rest of the 50 billion others species of creatures on the planet to save them from being obliterated by a loving god.

I think the Evangelicals are the ones cherry picking the bible to cover up their own homophobia. It's okay westmanguy. It is alright to be gay. The lord loves all of us.

Quote:
Jesus Christ was very clear about how he felt about people who claimed to be more righteous, Godly individuals and people who use this so called moral superiority to enforce laws of hate and oppression. In the days when Jesus walked the earth the law of the land was to stone prostitutes, yet Jesus said no. He asked anyone without sin to cast the first stone. Jesus did not say that what the prostitute did was right. He told her to go and sin no more. He did, however, suggest that her sins were between her and God. This is not only a statement against capital punishment and judging. It is a statement about the lack of hierarchy of sin. Prostitutes are not more sinful than those who worship idols or covet thy neighbors new Hummer. This also applies to homosexuality.

Quote:
Using the KJV this time, in John 8:1 - 11 scribes and Pharisees had caught a woman in the act of adultery (the woman commonly referred to as the prostitute) and told Jesus who was teaching in the temple that the Mosaic Law required she be stoned to death. Trying to make an opportunity of this to trick Jesus that they might accuse Him, they, with stones in hand, asked Jesus what He says about the Law. After Jesus tried to ignore their repeated questioning, He told them "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." One by one each man dropped his stone and walked away.

Quote:
If one looks to the New Testament, Matthew I 1:23-24, it is obvious to the most ardent homophobe that the sin of Sodom was failure to give protection, comfort and shelter, as in Luke 10:5-12. In Mark 7:10-11, Jesus talks again about hospitality. Further adding to the difficulty of this passage are the fears, prejudices and contemporary moral codes of those who translated the Bible through the ages. Scholars also note that it was not until the 12th century that the story of Sodom was interpreted to mean homosexuality.
Quote:
For nowhere does Jesus say anything about gay people. His only comments on sexual morals are the ones He spoke to the prostitute arid the adulteress. If homosexuality were such a sin, does it not make sense that Jesus would have talked about it at least once? Nevertheless, Jesus makes no reference at all to homosexuality.

Romans 13:8-10 reads as follows:
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments, 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not covet,' and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of:

"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you." (Matthew 5:38-42)

Maybe west's bible is missing a few pages?

For my last post of the night let me say that many people in the United Church would be offended if you said the church was all liberals. The United Church is a diverse group of people with a diverse set of political beliefs. Your phrase "infected by liberals" isn't worthy of a response.
