Whos with this?

You could argue that the world as we once knew it has already ended - or at least that's how a lot of people view 9/11.

I don't believe that Christ will physically pop out of a manhole somewhere, but when people get frightened, they often turn to religion, so in a way that is the return of Christ into our lives.

It's interesting to think about - it scares the crap out of my daughter though. She has a tendancy to think of things in a literal sense.

Christ is dead people. The wonderful Romans killed him and I wish to shake their hands for doing the world a favour.

For those who believe in Christ, there exists the idea that Christ will not come back as a single Man but rather in the form of Humanity, as a whole. With that idea in mind, it is the Consciousness of Christ that we should seek and not another man or human figure. Waiting for a man-Christ will only lead us into following imposters. These false prophets will cause more war.

The second coming of Christ will happen in every one of us, not outside of us.

But we're not quite there yet...

---

Back to earth... I don't think Christians should be seeking for "end times" patterns. They should simply be working on opening their hearts to Christ.

That was well said. Makes sense.

End of the world?

The end of the world is found in the following discourse of our Lord Jesus to His Disciples:

Matthew 24:1-25, following is an excerpts:

Mat 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive
many.

Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

I read a wonderful article regarding the END OF THE WORLD that reconciles the seemingly contradictory statement of our Lord with what we understand.

THE END OF THE WORLD? (!)

http://www.purechristianity.org/index.php/news/The_End_of_the_World%3F!

Introduction

  • Ever since, this is one topic of interest to Bible believers
  • Speculations on the matter at different times since the early centuries of Christianity have flourished extending almost 2000 years.
  • Hence the question, “…Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” (2 Peter 3:4)
  • More mystifying is what our Lord said, Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” (Mat 24:34)
(It worth taking a look.)

I get an "invalid article ID" message when I click on the link you claim explains that. That generation passed long ago, unless there's some 2000 year old people wandering about. Looks like just another failed Biblical prophecy to me. Can you explain to me why that doesn't give the lie to the whole apocalypse/second advent/eschatology stuff so beloved of fundamentalism, when Christ himself is quoted by Matthew as having uttered a demonstrably false statement about it? Or maybe you can just fix the link so I can see how somebody else thinks that can be rationalized?

Frankly, I can't imagine any way around that one, but maybe somebody else can. The statement seems pretty clear and direct, that generation has passed away, and Christ has not returned.

Hello,

Try putting the following under "Address" and click "Go".

I think somebody is "playing a joke" with that website because many get hurt with their very interesting articles.

No Fear of the Storm!

End Times?|?|?|

No Fear of the Storm!

Tim Lahaye, or as I call him “Tim LaHIGH”, wrote a book entitled “No Fear of the Storm”, published in 1992. I just realized it was in time for the new Millennium by the way, great sales move. He describes the “End of Days” discussion as Pre-Tribulation, or Rapture. Rapture I always thought lent itself better to the American musical group Blondie’s (1970’s & 1980’s) song of the same title.

Immediately you get the sense of a re-explanation of the end of days theory to suit our current global situation. As in all end of days teachings it starts out with, the NEED to help someone SEE THE F’N LIGHT. (Sorry it just pisses me off when the holier than thou or ANYONE feels the need to enlighten someone else do to what they perceive as misguided thoughts or ways! What they don‘t realize is that they are just calling someone stupid.) In this case it was an old friend of his that had strayed. If he was such a friend how did that so-called friend stray so far from last contact. I mean so dear that you feel you must clear things up for him, but not dear enough to speak to him in years! A-hole!

Anyway, Tim does do his homework. He is very clear on his point of the matter.

I.E.
Jesus will come back from heaven where he has prepared believers spots, dead and undead. This will happen in the blink of an eye. Suddenly those of us who are left will know we F’D up. Well me anyway, the first thing I will do once your all gone is turn of all the Ice Cream freezer in the 36 Flavors and watch it melt, I always wanted to do that for some weird reason, I digress. Once all of the ice cream has melted we will spend 1 million years toiling in our chosen wretchedness. By the way this is the god of the old testament, you know the pissed off one who goes around smiting. Love that word too. Not the one who cared enough to sacrifice his son so we could get into heaven.

I found it a tough read because of all the, WTFs going off inside my head! At least he states a belief. He is very clear and precise. Most books on theology stray from the point, only to imply something so they do not get themselves tied down to a specific poignant meaning.
