You have given us a strong, stable, reliable government for the next four years. You have done yourselves proud. Canada is a great country and tonight we can stand proud that we not only elected a majority government but we saw a sea change in Canadian politics. Thanks to all of you we have elected an NDP party to the official opposition. I especially thank the people of Quebec for their contributions to the Federal scene - you voted wisely and well.

I LOVE CANADA. :canada:

Yep, apparently crime pays. You can commit crimes against our democratic institutions and abuse the privileges of Parliament and 40% of people will vote for you if you frighten them enough with falsehoods about illegitimate coalitions and the dangers of the socialist hordes, and that's enough in our silly constituency system to give you a majority in the House.

I learned something interesting today working at an election. Immigrants most certainly do vote. Young and old. When it came to local younger crowd it was mainly the native gals and the males were utterly none existant.. When it came to Seniors of all types they came in hoards zimmer frames and scooters abound.

The people who have the most to gain or lose aren't showing up. That is disappointing.

This is no longer my country
I'll gladly take your share... and then some.

I did.... best decision I made apparently.

Now I don't have to worry about this arsed-backwards government & I actually have a job I enjoy AND a pay I can live decently off of.

Come live in Australia.... the weathers nice, the winters are mild, jobs are everywhere, they have a female PM who is actually putting money into education & schools, and besides the weather being warmer, the accents & driving on the other side of the road, everything is pretty much the same as Canada.... except there's no Harper Majority.

Oh and did I mention the beaches, the surf, the beer, the wine & the women?

Did I mention the vacations, sick leave, maternity leave, etc. are all double that of Canada?

Indeed.... Move!

Beats getting stuck working in the oil sands in -40 degree weather because the government cut all the jobs and funding to every other province & program, that there's nothing else you can do to survive.

Sorry Dex, but you sound like you've been hangin' around the beave to long. I for one don't frighten easily, coalitions are legitimate, and I don't think a little socialism is all that bad.

I forget which political wit said "people get the government they deserve". I wasn't always sure that it was true but now I wonder...

kkbye dont slam the door on the way out.
What's true is "You get what you vote for".

And if you don't vote, then you get what other people vote for.

Dex, I didn't vote out of fear, I voted because I truly believe that the Conservative party was doing a great job of governing our country and given a majority would do even better. Talking with my neighbors, they felt as I did that this was an unnecessary election and that the best thing we could do was to try and get a majority in order to prevent another one in a couple of years.

It will be interesting to see if any polls are done on why voters cast their ballots as they did.

I would also like to congratulate Cathy McLeod, my MP, for once again winning her seat in the Cariboo.

The results last night pleased me, it was what I was hoping for.

I am an NDP voter, and did vote NDP, but last time I voted conservative, trying to
help harper get his majority, didn't do that last night, but it happened anyway, good.

Maybe now finally, the government will run a bit smoother, harper and layton get along
pretty good, they will lock horns at times, that is normal, but all in all they will
keep parliament from looking like 2 year olds.
