Talk to all of your candidates and ask about political reform. If their parties have nothing substantive to say about reform consider voting your ballot blank on May 2 to send a clear positive message. To those considering not voting at all, voting a blank ballot is a more positive action than not voting at all.

The best thing the Atlantic Party can do is register candidates in a few winnable ridings, get the most respected & liked individuals to run in those ridings with good preparation & luck a Maritime rump party can formed holding the balance of power.

A blank card is not a vote. You have to mark your card in order to vote. An X through all candidates is a vote, a blank is no vote. So, your campaign is back asswards. If you can't get that straight, you won't get any support from anybody with a higher IQ than a slug. If you want to send a message, vote with an X.

A blank ballot will accomplish absolutely nothing unless every voter in the country submits one. They are too busy gloating over the votes they get.

But that would require work and money. Something in short supply for trolls that reside in their parent's basements.

What if we don't feel that political reform is needed? What if we don't subscribe to your personal agenda?

Submitting a blank ballot is a bad idea, better to spoil it. Contrary to what I once thought, a blank ballot won't count as a spoiled ballot according to the deputy returning officer I spoke to, it'll be recorded as blank and count for nothing, but a less than honest person doing the counting could use it surreptitiously to vote again. Mark it up somehow so it's clearly spoiled.

That fine. I guess you are in an odd situation where you do not want to have more say and control over how you are governed.

Well I sure would not have a say if I spoiled my ballot, now would I?

Shoot, I hit the rep button on this one and don't agree with it at all. I have worked at polling stations over the years and it would be all but impossible for anyone to do anything but count the votes and mark them down. Each party is allowed to have a representative present to scrutinze the process. Ruining ballots in any fashion is childish, IMHO.

Voting is just too important to play games with.

Voting is very important if you know and understand the issues...............voting is disastrous if you vote for someone because he/she is good looking or if someone else votes for him/her.

Did you know that if the moderator thinks you're going loopo, he can put an evidently-temporary block on your account's ability to post?

There's something so Canadian about that. My American cousins would go postal about constitutional rights...

Anyway, as with other things that don't happen quite like in the US, ballots here are still on countable paper, which is how it should be, and the last time I heard about anyone gaming the system was during an election where a native candidate in the NWT told everyone to use the proper-mark-of the-day next to his name, but to use a non-standard mark next to his name if they did not want him.

On election day he called a recount, where damaged ballots are included, and he got in by a landslide.
