Why is the Swiss crime rate not through the roof?

When we consider how so many Swiss store automatic weapons in their homes, would we not think that, if there is a direct correlation between weapons and crime, the crime rate in Switzerland ought to be through the roof, with practically each Swiss city plagued by deadly gang violence such as we've not yet seen in North America?

One word: Culture

Sometimes "the gun culture" is a very good thing.

And how would our education system introduce such a culture? Do we tech students that we invite them to join the military, but we can't trust them in normal society otherwise?

Or do we just teach them the ethical use of weapons like they do in Switzerland? You know, things like don't use your rifle to rob banks and such?

Hey, maybe Switzerland really does have the right balance. Canada tries to suppress gun ownership, the US lets anyone have a gun but does not require adequate training. In Switzerland, you receive plenty of training.

I would wonder what the poverty rate is.

Well, with an armed population, the government is bound to treat it with respect and dignity. If I'm not mistaken, their education system is based on a social democratic model, with much government funding for education to ensure everyone learns a trade or profession.

Maybe if Canada was all armed, we'd have similar. Suddenly, the government would recognize the value of ensuring a well educated population with all able to create work for themselves wore case scenario. Strangely enough, this sounds like a call for socialists to support a Swiss army model. How ironic.

Aperently education is manditory and strict. They better have official reason to be out of school. There's even a fine i am told 8O

Ban the Swiss. Then I think there'll be no more crime in Switzerland.
