If it weren't for the Party, we wouldn't have the governments debts we have right now; interest rates would be lower; and inflation would be lower too.

Education would e better, we wouldn't have all the ethnic conflicts we do, etc.

Like I said, it's all the Party's fault, so please don't vote for the Party next election. Vote for this Party instead.:p

I am sure if we lived in a politically violent country where heads actually fell, they'd learn to walk a straight line. If I tried all the scandals and frauds they did I doubt they'd let me out .

I agree a lot of the political mismanagement in the recent history of our governments (both here in Canada and abroad) is a function of the party system. In some ways it seems almost inevitable that with the nature of politicking (the compromises and favour trading that is the back bone of it) that the parties would form: eventually we all have to either stand alone or put our interests aside on one area to advance them in other more important ones, as unpalatable as that sometimes is. But as others have pointed out in numerous other threads in the past, its what our system has evolved into, so how do we correct it?

My guess.......tottal transperancy, open financual books. Who's who getting what. Fixed election laws. Lowering the cost of campaigning. Accountability. A fruad is a fruad and jail time to go with it. More awakened citizens that want an active part in what is going on at Parlement. Reverse the piramid of power.... Let MNA's vote freely

there maybe more

Party politics is just stupid. Voting party instead of ability and plans is even stupider.

Hither and yon
As a fiscal conservative and a social liberal I have generally tended to vote towards the party and individuals who, if elected, I thought would do the best job of running the province, or the country in general.

When I was young I was like most other impatient young college goers.
I wanted change, I wanted a vastly liberalized society and I thought Socialism was by far the most efficient and fair system of governance available.

Then I got a job and started paying taxes.
I learned about how to run small companies, dealing with employees and co-workers and so on.
And I traveled the world and worked in many diverse countries (including Communist ones).

And I learned it's all a crapshoot.
You pay your dime, you take your chances.

I am now a solid supporter of Democracy.
I believe in our present system of governance and like Churchill said, "it's a truly rotten system but it is still by far the best one we have".

Vote early and vote often.
You never realize what a good thing you have going until you loose it.
