A week ago it was about more than just EI. Had Iggy held his ground on all four issues there would have been an election. Harper's position changed when Iggy's demands changed. That's not caving.

Angus Reid: Con 32% Lib 31% NDP 18% BQ 11% Grn. 7%
Ekos: Con 34.8% Lib 32.6% Ndp 14.3% Grn 9.3% Bq 9%

Iggy was just putting on a show, there was never any chance he would have wanted an election with these numbers; besides, the Libs ain't got no money.

Minority government possible for Liberals, poll suggests

Up until the deficit news of May 26, the Conservatives appeared to have been benefiting from the fact some more prosperous Canadians, perhaps with an eye more to the stock market than the job market, were becoming more optimistic about the economic future.
However, their advantage appeared to vanish after Finance Minister Jim Flaherty revealed Ottawa expected a budgetary shortfall of $50 billion for the 2009-10 fiscal year that will end in March 2010.

Polls used to suggest our solar system was geocentric, too. Lots of "if"s in suggestions.

LG we said what people used to think back then in some cases is irrelevant, we are past from such debates whether or not the solar system is geocentric or heliocentric.

Poor Galileo was jailed for life by the Conservative religious inept thinkers of the time, for believing the correct ideology about how our solar system worked.

Humanity has changed only in some parts of the world, as you know today.

We are past from such debates? If you mean that we've discovered the difference, I agree. But, my point was that popular opinion and even popular certainty is wrong sometimes.

Yeah. Galileo died a few years back. Things are different now. But, most people are still fools.

We are diverting from the main question on this thread, Pierre Elliott Trudeau greatness to the average person on the street is not a good comparison. The main question here is "Who was the worst PM Canada has ever seen”, and the answer to that is many Conservatives PM s. History will back that up.

PET's "greatness" is an illusion. I don't think we had a worst PM. Many were atrocious, some were not so bad, and PET was in between.
